  1. 1. The Vellore fort, which has historical significance to it, as this is where the sepoy mutiny against the British started off well before in the north.

    i) There is the ancient Jalagandeshwar (Siva) temple inside the fort, which is must see (Wonderful sculptures and a beautiful lotus pond).

ii) You may go boating in the courtyard of the fort, in the evening time or simply relax yourself in the well-maintained lawn.

    2. Amirthi forest - About 25 kms (about 45 mins drive) from Vellore. Check out this link. Nice place for 1-day picnic.

You may visit Amirthi in the morning (need to pack food), fort in the afternoon, and the Golden temple in the night (sparkling beauty under flood lights!!!)

  3. Vellore itself is a place of historical importance. The fort is an interesting place. You have Jalagandeshwar temple inside the fort. From Vellore, if time permits, drive to Thiruvannamalai, which is about 50 kms away or Kancheepuram, which may be less than 50 kms on the way to Chennai.

  4. kanchipuram,chennai,yercard,sholingur etc
