Goldfish changing colors

i've had my goldfish for about 4 months and now his fins are changingg purple... i sometimes feed him Tetra fin but mostly wardley essentials...any suggestions on what's happening???

  1. It might just be natural. I had a completely black goldfish, but a couple months later he started turning reddish. Now, its completely orange. It might be the food or maybe even some bacteria in the water.


  2. Purple is not a color for goldfish.  If it's the ends of the fins it's probably ammonia burns.  A goldfish requires a minimum of a 20 gallon tank with excellent filtration.  If ammonia builds up in the tank/bowl it can burn the fins on the fish as well as the gills.

  3. since your goldfish is indoors some do change in colors if you want put it in an outdoor pond in a week its colors will be back.

  4. This could be happening for a couple different reasons.

    A. Young goldfish change colours for the first year or two normally, and you have nothing to worry about.

    B. Your goldfish has been through a stressful or traumatic experience recently, such as moving to a new tank or adding new tank mates and its fins are temporarily turning blackish.
