in the last day or so we've lost 5 of 8 goldfish. we had 9 but one died last week . now more are gone. so we like tested the water witha pool strip tester and it says the pH is high. so how do we lower it without killing the rest of the fish? they stopped eating around the time the first one died.

they are different ages too. like some are around 7 years old but now the babies are dying the older ones died first. what is causing this? the chemicals? the water? we filled it up a bit the other day

  1. if you have a local pond store look under pond in the phone book, you need to go there and get something called beneficial bacteria and follow its instructions for pouring in the pond, if it is a small pond you may have too many fish and not enough filtration, which means they could be essentially swimming in their waste. if you may have too many, assume one fish for every 5-10 gallons, you may need to get rid of some, another possibility is that the water could contain chlorine especially if pond was filled with tap water, you could be poisoning the water. i hope this might help, thanks

  2. Change the water..put them in a fish tank for a while..until u have the right pH of the water u need
