  1. The fish control their growth so if you have a small bowl it will stay the size it needs to in that bowl

if you move it, it will adapt to it's new enviroment

    hope this helped

  2. Hi, you got some good advice above. The 2 link below should put it all into context for you!

  3. Not in a bowl. Nothing lives well in a bowl.  You could have a 5 gallon filtered tank for a couple months and keep upgrading but that gets expensive.  A fancy goldfish will grow to be 8" long and a common 12" so you can see that keeping them in a small tank is out of the question for very long.

  4. Nope.  Sorry.  Golfish, even if they are small, cannot live long in bowls.

They need filters. One because they are DIRTY little buggers and will muck up the water in no time.  Constant changing of the water will stress them out also.  And two, the filters allow for oxygen to get into the water.  Goldfish need lots and will most likely suffocate in a bowl.

If you want a goldfish, you are best to start out as big as you can afford.

That pretty much means at LEAST a 20 gallon tank with a really good filter.

EDIT: It is a myth that goldfish stay the size of their container.  All that happens is that they die early and are stunted because of improper habitat.

  5. NO! Fishbowls are never healthy even for really little fish! Just get them a real tank.

  6. how many fish are you planning to put in that bowl it will be overcrowded and you need a filter too.
