Goldoni in form to stamp the Investec Derby Trial Conditions at Epsom on 25th April
The Investec Derby Trial Conditions will be held at Epsom over a mile, two furlongs and 18 yards on Wednesday, 25th April. A line-up of six runners has assembled for contesting the £31,125 purse challenge.
Only two entries among the contestants have raced at Epsom. Goldoni, Dylan Thomas’ three-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Lasso, scored second at Epsom during the previous season.
Goldoni finished right after the 4/1 favourite winner, Repeater, in the Play The Racing Lottery E B F Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs on 14th July, 2011. The three-year-old had to compromise with the victory by just a mere nose’s differential.
Stationing third behind the winner was Tones.
This was the only time that the three-year-old raced at Epsom through the career and will be racing there for a second time through the second start of 2012.
His seasonal debut was in the Equinity Powered By Garmin Handicap on 1st April at Doncaster over a mile and two and a half furlong. The race was won by Kingsdesire as Goldoni took the runner up’s slot after striding through the gap of ¾ of a length.
Coming at terms with the third position was Hallmark Star while the 13/8 favourite, Attenborough, finished ninth on the track of eleven.
Another note worthy entry for the race is Mister Music, Singspiel’s three-year-old bay colt out of mare, Sierra, as he won at Epsom in the second last race of the previous season.
He was the 10/11 favourite winner of the Greene King IPA Conditions Stakes on 25th September over a mile and half a furlong. Riding with Richard Hughes, Mister Music led the runner up, Hint Of Mint, by 2 ¼ lengths.
Settling third behind the winner was Surrey Storm.
Mister Music’s seasonal debut was in the Blue Square Feilden Stakes (Listed Race) on 18th April at Newmarket over a mile and a furlong. The race was won by Stipulate who was ridden by Tom Queally. The two led Mister Music by four and a half lengths
while he had Jimmy Fortune onboard.
The 5/4 favourite of the race, Perennial, ended sixth on the field of seven.
Goldoni has all the chances for adding today’s race as a victory on his profile.
