Golf, Betting odds for Portugal Masters (part 1)
After the Ryder Cup, all the attention has now been taken by the ‘Race To Dubai’. Portugal Masters is one of the links in the same chain.
The event carrying a purse of three million Euros is taking place at Victoria Golf Club in Vilamoura, starting from 14th October, 2010.
Last year’s winner, Lee Westwood, won’t be seen at the tournament to protect his title, due to a calf injury. The Englishman dislocated his right foot at Kingsbarns, where the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship was taking place. Therefore,
after the event, he decided to call off his further tour and take advantage of his paramedic at home.
Ross Fisher
Lee Westwood’s withdrawal has left his fellow player with an opportunity to win. Ross Fisher is the best player on the field, fresh off the Ryder Cup and two top seven finishes from three events. He has been consistent throughout the season
therefore, odds are that the player might be the one holding the trophy in his hand. Secondly, he is eyeing the Race to Dubai and is standing at the 13th spot in the rankings. This deduces his motivation behind to win the current tournament.
Alvaro Quiros
The next player in the list is the Spaniard, Alvaro Quiros. He gave a superb performance at the Dunhill Links Championship, last week in Scotland. He finished in the fifth spot. Apart from this reason, Alvaro Quiros is the man to watch out for on the greens.
Despite a perfect record the player is lacking confidence this season. This can be the only hindrance in his game.
Simon Dyson
The player hails from Yorkshire and was left out of the Ryder Cup squad, but he did not let it hamper his game and morale, which was linked with it. Simon Dyson gave a superb performance at the Dunhill Links.
Although he could not defend his championship title, he gave a commendable performance. He shot 66 in the final round and finished in the fifth place. Dyson is a man, who follows a certain trend. His one good game leads to another and after the top fifth
spot in Scotland, the bettors are expecting a superb finish from him.
The European is fond of long courses and he told this to the press after the final round last week. He said, “The course is good. It's a long course but it favours good drivers as well, which I've done well this week. So hopefully if I can keep doing that,
keep holing the putts and have another good week".
Moreover, he finished in the seventh place at the same course in 2008 and won two titles last year followed by another victory at the US tour.
Alex Noren
The fourth man, who might be seen with the crystal trophy is Alex Noren. The Swede was not interested in the Race to Dubai initially, but in the recent weeks he qualified in the top 60 golfers for the Dubai World Championship.
The player requires a sparkling trophy and that will fill the gap of 200,000 Euros, which he requires to fall in the contention. As for his last visits to this course, Alex Noren has thrice finished in the top 16s. Moreover, last year, he wrapped up the
round with a 62. This could be a good chance for him to seize the opportunity along with the Race to Dubai, which is due in November.
This is it for the first half of the betting odds for the possible winner of the Portugal Masters, which is taking place at the Victoria Golf Club today( 14th October, 2010). The event will continue till the 17th of this month with
all its glitz and glamour.
