Golf, Betting odds for Portugal Masters (part 2)
The event carrying a purse of three million Euros is taking place at Victoria Golf Club in Vilamoura, starting from 14th October, 2010. Here is the second half of the betting preview for the possible winner of the Championship.
Miguel Angel Jimenez
The 46- year old has claimed 18 victories on the European Tour. What else can be the possible reason for him being on the betting list? Moreover, the Spaniard has seized three tournament victories this year along with the Ryder Cup title.
His first victory came at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, in which he defeated his fellow player, Lee Westwood in a playoff. Later followed the Alstom Open de France, which he again won against Francesco Molinari and Alejandro Cannizares. Another victory
followed with a gap of three months, he won the Omega European Masters that took place in Switzerland.
As for his stats, ‘the Mechanic’ has a shot game, which indicates that he is good at wedge and excellent with putters. His performance at the Ryder Cup was superb and it demonstrated his strong form throughout the season. However, the cigar lover might incur
some problems with the long course of Victoria Golf Club, which requires long hitters. If Miguel Angel Jimenez took care of the Crans–sur-Sierre, with his wedge game, then Victoria GC won’t be much of a problem for him.
Edoardo Molinari
The 29-year-old is a two time winner on the European Tour. His first victory came at the Barclays Scottish Open, where he defeated Darren Clarke with the help of three strokes. His next victory came in August at the Johnnie Walker Championship, which took
place at Gleneagles.
His excellent form took him to the Celtic Manor, where he competed against the American team for the pursuit of the Ryder Cup trophy. Standing in the 15th place on the official World Golf Ranking, Edoardo Molinari is one tough player.
Pablo Martin
Oklahoma State University player secured his second victory on the European Tour in the Alfred Dunhill Championship, which took place in 2009. After that, he has not shown a significant finish at the European Tour. Despite his lack of wins, he is on the
betting list for possible winners.
The reasoning behind this notion is the early days of the player on this course. Pablo Martin declared a victory here, when he was still an amateur. This journey back to Portugal Masters can revive his morale and confidence, which can ultimately benefit
him. Moreover, the player was standing in the T4 slot before entering the final round in 2009 Portugal Masters, but he messed up and finished the round with a 77. Naturally after looking at the course an urge to settle the score with the course can benefit
him as well.
Charl Schwartzel
The South African is a five time winner on the European tour with two victories falling in the current year, Arica Open and Joburg Open. He finished in 18th place in the PGA championship and 16th in the US Open. These stats show the
fair form of the player.
Regarding his game and his reasoning to be here on the betting list is his long game. The 26-year old is a long hitter and that is the kind of player, which is required here on the tees of Victoria GC. He might not finish in the top two, but he will certainly
be the one with a top five finish.
This is it for the betting preview of the possible winners for the Portugal Masters, which is taking place at the Victoria Golf Club in Vilamoura. The event has four Ryder Cup winners, who of course are drained, but they haven’t given up on competitive golf.
This shows their strong form. However, whether they win or not is a separate question that can only be answered with the emergence of the weekend.
