  1. WC {UK}- WRONG

These terms were first used as slang in america, with the bird with the larger wing span considered better eg. albatross is larger than eagle and better in golf...........p.s condor is the name used for a hole in one on a par 5

  2. did you read Condor's answer? "the bird with the larger wing span considered better"

that means I have been hitting Emus and Kiwis (both flighless) with the odd Dodo thrown in (extinct)

  3. Golf was invented in Gleneagles,  Scotland, quite near the coast.  Lots of sea birds around and sometimes got hit by a ball. Killing them. Someone commented on this in the 19th when they were working out the rules and par for each hole, so they decided to name the par after how many hits it took to down a bird, so they practised for a while and took an average, birdie being the most common to hit  and an albatross being the hardest.
