Golf 01 1.4 comfort line Exuast emission warning light in dash

Question

The light came on the other day. the car started chucking and it lost power and the light kept flashing then i turned the car off for a while. When started again it seems to be running fine but the light is still on but not flashing. I have been driveing with it on for a day and seems fine. What could be the problem has anybody experienced this with the same model of car. I know that it happend me before with a different light in the dash and it was just a faulty sensor. Could this be my problem.

Yes it could be just a faulty lambda sensor. Or your catalyser may be dying, that would account for lost power. Diagnostics at a VW dealership is the only way to reveal the cause.

I would not waste money taking the car to the main againt costs £90.00 per hour, Instead take it to a good indipendent garage who will do a Plug in diagnostic with vag com and will obtain a Fault code which will determine the cause of the fault.
