Golf: Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Golf Championship finds new sponsor
Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Golf Championship has found a new sponsor. The National Bank of Abu Dhabi has taken the honour of hosting the 27th edition of the event, which will start on 21
January, 2011.
The news was confirmed by the Group Chief Executive of NBAD Michael Tomalin and the manager of Al Ghazal Golf Club, Ms. Angela Scurr.
Michael told the press, “We are pleased and proud to be part of the history of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Championship in which NBAD has been involved since the early 1980's. Since its inception in 1968, NBAD has been supporting the needs of the community.
We are engaged in many vital activities in this regard such as donations, sponsorships, corporate philanthropy, and CSR projects. Our community support focuses on the areas of education, health, community development, environment, art, music, and sports.”
On the other hand, Scurr thanked the bank for its continuous support. She said, “AGGC is very honoured that the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) is committed to the Al Ghazal Golf Club and the holding of the 27th NBAD Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Golf Championship.”
With emergence of the new partner, the purse of the event has been raised and is expected to attract a bigger field. Moreover, according to media reports, the defending champion Nasha Sarkari, a member of Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club will be teeing off
in the event. Apart from her, Sana Tufail, who has played in the Surry Open and Lindsay Brown from Palm Sports Resort, will also compete for the title.
The championship will be staged on Al Ghazal Golf Club from 21 – 22 January, 2011 and is co-sanctioned by Emirates Golf Federation and European Tour.
The two-day event is recognised as the oldest order of merit tournament, which has produced great female golfers in the past. Once again, the tournament will witness an entertaining battle with the rookies.
