Golf Betting Preview: top 5 golfers of KLM Open (part 1)
The annual event that takes place very year in September in Netherlands is back. The course of Hilversumsche Golf Club, which is situated in Hilversum, is ready to welcome the KLM Open 2010.
A little regarding the venue, this is the very first time for KLM to come to the greens of Hilversumsche Golf Club. Although the course has a history of hosting many events but it was the year 2005 in which the first KLM event took place here. Many players performed outstanding on this course, although the history of this venue shows that it is not easy to score par here. There are three examples which can be given here in this context. The players who defeated this course but still faced trouble, here is a quick summary.
Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, the winner of 2005 KLM posted a score of 11 under after a couple of bogeys in the final round. Only a year earlier, David Lynn despite being the winner, hardly found any fairway and greens, and if one goes further back, then in 2002 Tobias Dier created a mess in his scorecard after hitting the ball a mile, and then getting up and down the fairway to secure his victory.
As for the betting preview here are the first two players who according to the media reports and the analyst will top the charts by the end of this week.
Simon Dyson
The defending champion of the event, Simon Dyson is at the top of the betting list with an obvious reasoning.
Firstly he is familiar with the course, as he is the last player to declare a victory over there, and he is the only player who tackled the changes that were bought on the course by 2005. Secondly, he is in the form to win the current championship. This statement is backed up by the following stats. He won his last championship of Alfred Dunhill Links, which took place at Kingsbarn with a lead of 20 under and posted a score of 63, which is by far one of the lowest scores on linked course. Later that year he defeated Lawrie and Hedblom in a playoff at the KLM Open.
As for his recent achievements and stats, he was ranked 12th in driving accuracy, when he finished in a tie for the 60th spot in Omega European Masters in Switzerland. A week before he took the 16th spot in driving accuracy when he finished sixth at Gleneagles, where the Johnnie Walker Championship took place.
However there is a suspicion that he might not be able to fall in the top 2 and that is accredited to his finish with a score of 75 last week at Crans-Sur-Serrie but again this is Dyson's time of year, and he knows how to turn tables in September especially at KLM open.
Peter Lawrie
Although he lost the play off to the winner but he is ready to strike the defending champion with his strong form. Lawrie, no doubt isn’t one of the best drivers, which is the ultimate requirement of the course but he is wise enough to take advantage of the three-wood wherever it is possible. This statement signifies that he is able to find couple of greens in regulation, and it might go in his favour, as Dyson is really bad in this area.
He finished at the sixth spot back in 2006, which gives clear indications that the player does a good job in Netherlands. However that’s not all, of course, for the main reason for supporting the Irishman is his current form.
He finished in the ninth place at Crans-sur-Sierre, despite the fact that he started with a very high score of 72, and he was de-motivated from his defeat at a play-off, when he had a 66 in his last round of the Johnnie Walker Championship. His 20th spot finish at Celtic Manor earlier this year, clearly depicts that Peter will take good memories from this course. Lastly, if his winning trends are bought into attention, than we see that he posted a victory on the European Tour after he finished ninth, which means Peter Lawrie is the best choice for the Top 2.
This is it for the first part that emphasized the top two players of the KLM Open, which is taking place this week at the Hilversumsche Golf Club.
