Golf course is the best place for a crime scene, which is why the body of Joanna Yeates was found from Long Ashton golf course.
The famous Long Ashton golf course is situated in Bristol, United Kingdom and is house to huge names like Ruth Porter, Kirtrina Douglas, Andrew Sherborne and David Ray. The course remained close for Christmas as heavy snow was expected on Sunday.
However, on Sunday morning the police received a phone call from a couple, who claimed that they saw a dead body on the wooden fence of the club. The police reached the crime scene 15 minutes after the phone call, but were not able to retrieve the body,
as it was covered in snow. Avon Fire Service experts were asked to lift the body, which was identified on Monday morning.
Chief Superintendent Jon Stratford was inquired on this situation, but he was unable to produce the identification of the body. He stated, “It was a dreadful discovery to make on Christmas Day. A Home Office pathologist will be carrying out a post-mortem
probably on Boxing Day, and we would hope to make a formal identification after that.”
According to police records, Yeates’ boyfriend Greg Reardon filed a case of abduction a night before Christmas Eve after he came back home and found Yeates missing. Five uniformed police officers were sent for the hunt, but failed to find her. She was last
seen at 8.40pm buying a pizza in a Tesco Express a few minutes' walk from her home and after two days her body was found buried in snow.
Jon Stratford added, “The body is not naked, but it has snow covering it. We have called in specialists from the fire service trained in recovering bodies without disturbing evidence to very slowly lift the body from the snow and look under it. The Home
Office pathologist has been at the scene but is unable to carry out a post-mortem to discover how she died because the body has been there for some time and is obviously very cold in the present weather conditions.”
Thirty detectives and 40 uniformed police officers alongside forensic experts are working on the case, but no evident deduction has been made yet. Golf Course is an ideal location for a crime like this because of vast land and less security. Seven years
back, a case with similar elements was registered in Bristol, owing to lack of security and it is time that managements of golf courses take action in this context.
