Golf Breaking News: Peter Hanson has pulled out of Vivendi Cup after catching severe infection
Peter Hanson has taken a withdrawal from the Vivendi cup after been struck by ill-health.
The European team member Peter Hanson has pulled out just before his tee timings after he realized that he won’t be able to give his best. The 32-year-old is suffering from severe chest infection, cold and fever.
According to the player, he contracted the illness after eating out from a street vendor in Paris. Initially, he felt nausea followed by vomiting. However, after an hour or two he rushed to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with an infection. The doctor has suggested the player to take rest; therefore, Hanson has decided to take a week off. Peter Hanson is in the European Ryder cup team, and for him being physically fit is one of the essentials.
With Ryder cup only a week away, Colin Montgomerie is worried about his player. According to Hanson, Monty called him earlier in the morning and told him to take rest, as the Ryder Cup held a lot of importance. Besides, he was told that he was going to play on the first day of the Ryder cup; hence no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
Ryder cup is starting next week at Celtic Manor from 1st October, which means that only seven days are left for the four balls to begin. Four balls is a session which is held to check the fitness of the players and if a player fails in it, he is struck out.
Peter Hanson is ready with his bags packed, and he will return back home for proper rest and medication. As for his replacements, Damien Perrier has taken over the vacant spot for the Vivendi cup. After Hanson’s withdrawal, the only Ryder cup team member left on the European tour event is Padraig Harrington. The player is a three time major champion, but, he has not claimed a single tournament victory in the current season. Therefore, after Hanson being struck out, chances for Harrington claiming the title have considerably increased.
