  1. Stretching is what its all about,  not muscle .  Creating resistance in the back swing is what creates club head speed (  big shoulder turn vs small hip turn)  . I d say concentate on flexibility,  how many top pro s are muscle bound ?  None.  Hope this helps,  play well!!!

  2. Hands and forearms are important so wrist and arm curls are good in the weight room.  Legs are also very important for a solid base and balance so toe raises and squats for calves and thighs.  Then probably MOST important is the trunk or mid section, abs and lower back.  So lots of crunches or sit-ups.  Congrats on realizing that the better shape you are in the better golf you will play - so many people think they don't have to be fit for golf and then end up with sprains and injuries.

  3. For the guy above me, I can name at least 5 tour players that can lift very well.  Tiger is very muscular, but it is lean muscle.  The key is to build lean muscle by doing repetition more than bulk using heavy weights.  Work on your core the most, sit ups, push ups, stretching, etc... Also, back excercises are good too for the golf swing.  Overall, a well rounded workout using light weights and multiple sets is the best way to build up your swing speed.
