Golf: EA Sports launches PGA Tour Golf Challenge on Facebook
EA Sports launched PGA Tour Golf Challenge on Facebook Tuesday evening in an official launching ceremony in Florida.
PGA Tour Golf Challenge, which features Masters 2011, will be launched a week before the start of the Masters at Augusta National. The purpose of the cyber launch is to promote the game before it actually hits the market and test the response.
According to media reports, the game, which once featured Tiger Woods on its cover, is abstaining from using Woods in its media campaign now. Therefore, the only marketing tool left on their minds is via Facebook.
The game has few exclusive features on the offer. It starts with various options ranging from three-hole to eighteen-hole challenge. This gives the player an option of choosing his game plan with ease. The beginners can opt for the 3-hole, as it has instructional
features as well. The interesting part of the game is the scorecard, which will be matched against all the Facebook game application users. However, there is no option of ‘play with a friend’ in the current version, but EA Sports is thinking on those lines.
Speaking to the press regarding the game, vice president and general manager of EA Sports On-Demand Team Mike Taramykin said, “The next month or so, we're really going to be using to watch how people play and make sure that we improve that experience. It
is really important to try and get the basic fundamentals of the game right and then you start catering to your audience, which is a strategy that we have used with our other Facebook games as well and it has worked out really well. We are looking to perhaps
create an entry point into our portfolio on Facebook where people could start interacting in more immersive experiences.”
With Tiger Woods off the cover, EA Sports is thinking of other options. That is why they decided to make the game experience more superior. To do so, they have introduced the one-click-shot function and the real life-like features of Augusta National. This
way the gamers will find themselves locked on the real greens of the course with a vast range of clubs to choose from and that too with one click.
Although Tiger is gone from the cover of the game, he is still a playing option in the game. By putting the PGA Tour Golf Challenge on Facebook, EA Sports has stepped in a completely new dimension of golf.
