Golf: Emirates NBD joins hands with Dubai Desert Classic
Emirates National Bank of Dubai has joined hands with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic tournament as the major sponsor of the event which will be held from 7 – 13 February, 2011 at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.
The news was confirmed by the Head of Group Marketing and Branding, Emirates NBD, Vikram Krishna. He said, “This is the 22nd consecutive year that Emirates NBD are partnering with Golf in Dubai in what promises to be another thrilling event. In line with
our commitment to support local causes, this year we will also be hosting a charity putt at the event.”
Apart from sponsoring the annual tournament, the bank will host the Greensome match that would take place at the same venue on Tuesday. Players like Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, Noh Seung-Yul, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Mark O’Meara would be participating in
it.
The tournament will feature the top three players of the world for the first time in desert swings. Never before has the trio teed off together on the same ground at the same time. Therefore, a huge media glitz is being expected in the region, which was
the primary goal of the tournament organiser, ‘Golf in Dubai.’
Commenting on the revival of partnership and the tournament, Muhammad Juma Buamim, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Golf in Dubai said, “Emirates NBD and Golf in Dubai share a joint vision and enthusiasm for promoting golf in the region. Throughout
the years, this tournament has built a strong reputation and attracted visitors and top players from around the world, which has been achieved with the help of our longstanding partners such as Emirates NBD. We are delighted to have them on board once again.”
Together the duo will sponsor the six-day event, which would start with an Omega Dubai Desert Challenge match and will then hold the pro-am.
Apart from watching the world’s top golfers teeing up, the spectators will have the privilege of getting free advice from the players during the ‘Golf Clinic.’
Moreover, an exclusive package will be offered to the Emirates NBD cardholders. The members will get a 15 per cent discount and a special seating area at the venue.
