Golf: Kolon Korea Open kicks off at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club

The Korea Open is back at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club on the 7th October and it will stretch all the way to 10th . The event is sponsored by Kolon and it is carrying a purse of US$1,000,000.
Kolon Korea Open is a men’s professional golf tournament; the 7th
leg of the One Asia Tour and it is the richest sole-sanctioned event on the tour.
One Asia is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to enhance the scope of golf in Asia-Pacific and discovering potential players in the region. Its founding members are the China Golf Association, the Korea Golf Tour, the
Korea Golf Association and the PGA of Australia.
Some of the biggest names in the golf world are taking part in the tournament; Kang Sung-hoon, Y.E.Yang and Bae Sang-Moon are on the list of the players that will tee off on Thursday.
According to the South Korean Kang Sung-hoon, he is looking forward to meet the defending champion of the event, Bae Sang-Moon. Moreover, he is confident over his game as he is familiar with the course and it will be relatively
easier for him to conquer it.
Kang says, "The golf course is really good and last year was my best finish there...I believe I can play a little bit better this year and I hope I can win the title.”
Commenting about the course, Kang added, "It's a pretty long course, the fairways are tight and the greens are undulating. The par- 3s are very long and there are not many opportunities for birdies. You've got to play the par fives
very low and not make bogeys on the par threes and you can win it."
According to the experts, it won’t be difficult for the 23-year-old to win on this venue. He recently finished in the top spot at the Thailand Open and has strong form. Above all, the layout of the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club
will provide advantage to the player as he is good at shot game and the course is just the place for him.
On the other side, Y.E.Yang is also eyeing the tournament’s trophy after he became the first Asian to earn a tour card at last season’s US PGA Championship. If he wins the title, then this will be his second Korea Open victory
after 2006. Another strong contender, Bae Sang-Moon is eyeing for his third straight win which means a good battle will be seen on the putting area of Woo Jeong Hills Country Club.
The star-studded line-up includes Anthony Kim and Korean rookies Kim Dae-hyun and Noh Seung-yul. Noh won the European Tour co-sanctioned Malaysian Open in March which signifies the presence of yet another strong form in the field.
The event will start with Li Chao teeing off at 7.45am. Li is an eight times winner on the China Tour and he has claimed a victory in Zhuhai, earlier this season. The 30-year-old is much confident with his form and believes he
can win it with ease. He has regained lot of his confidence after winning a tournament in Zhuhai earlier this year.
Big-hitter Yuan Hao is also on the list and he is one of the players to claim a victory in this season in Beijing. Nonetheless, a young Chinese Hu Mu who recently turned 21  will also tee off in his first professional tournament
since turning professional.
This is it for the Kolon Korea Open which will kick off on Thursday 7th October, 2010 at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club. This is the seventh tournament of the One Asia tour and it will be chased by the Midea China Classic in
Shunde from October 14-17. The event will mark the penultimate event of the season and it promises a whole pack of solid entertainment.
