Golf: Nike inks Joseph Bramlett
Professional Golfers Association Tour school graduate Joseph Bramlett will be carrying Nike gears to the Sony Open! The news was confirmed by the Stanford alumni in a press conference on Monday evening.
This week Nike signed Joseph Bramlett as its brand ambassador for golf gear. Nike is a sports equipment manufacturer, which has hired big names like Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in the past. However, this time they inked the 22-year-old from California
for his superb finish in the Qualifying School. The American bagged the 16th spot in the six-stage event.
However, this is not all. The American became the youngest player to make a cut in the US Amateur in 2002 and turned pro four years later. In December 2010, he graduated from the Q-School and became the first player with Afro-American heritage to do so in
a span of 25 years.
Global Sports Marketing Director of Operations for Nike Golf, Mark Thaxton confirmed the news in the press conference and said, “Joseph is a fine example of determination and will. We look forward to having Joseph on the PGA Tour this year representing Nike
Golf.”
As per details of the contract, Bramlett will represent Nike clubs, ball, footwear, glove, bag, apparel, headwear and other accessories in the entire PGA season for multiple years. However, the exact time span of the contract has not been disclosed.
Bramlett, who prefers dressing in red like Tiger Woods, was extremely happy with his accomplishment. He said, “This has been my dream since I was a little kid. Although I always had faith that this would happen, I am deeply humbled by the opportunity and
challenges ahead.”
Commenting about the Nike gear, Bramlett added, “I am very excited to begin my professional golf career as a Nike athlete. Nike equipment has been in my bag throughout my amateur and collegiate career and I believe strongly in its technology and performance.”
Joseph Bramlett will be teeing off with his new Nike kit in Sony Open which takes place in Hawaii. Now this is what you call a start! After all, how many golfers get to kick their PGA tour on the sandy beaches of Hawaii and that too with Nike’s black wedges?
