  1. I don't think it will ever happen because every week on the tour is just like the olympics.

  2. Considering there are already tournaments in which players from around the world play in (WGC), there wouldn't be much need for golf in the Olympics.

And the "shelf life" of a golfer is very long. Pro golfers play in their sixties, even seventies. A lot have 40 year golf careers, starting from when they turn pro, to when they retire. It would pretty much be the same people playing, every Olympics.

  3. Personally, I don't think that golf should be in the Olympics.

The original (modern) Olympics in 1896 had only 9 sports; athletics, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, weightlifting, shooting, swimming, tennis, and wrestling.

Some of the sports that are now included are, to me, a bit ridiculous; beach volleyball, baseball, softball, etc.

Cricket and rugby union were included but are no longer but there is talk of bringing them back - I hope not, even though I am a rugby fan.

For the 2012 London Olympics, there will be 26 sports; I used to enjoy watching the Olympics with the traditional sports like track and field, weightlifting, shooting, and swimming, but nowadays things are getting out of hand with sports like beach volleyball!

So, no I wouldn't like to see golf included; the PGA Tour events provide enough excitement and entertainment as it is.

  4. it was in three  olympics ross sommerville won the first for canada , the second only competior , number 2 gold  third same thing . was considered demo sport 94 atlanta games the i o c did not agree with the course or its practices , declined to hold event . course augusta national

  5. ya sure why not. they play every other sport in the book. guarantee someone will show up to win a gold medal and stand on the podium for their anthem. yes the pga does play every weekend. the pga championship is Aug 7-10 but the wydamyier(or something) is after that so the could do the golf in the later days of the Olympics. so ya it could work. the Olympic committee should work something out with the pga on major tournament dates. my question is the format would it be a team thing like the Ryder cup or just an individual tournament?

  6. Yes.  But I have to admit I like the Olympics a lot more when it was for amateur athletes.

  7. Golf does not belong in the Olympics, neither does tennis, I play both.
