Golf Player Profile: Louis Oosthuizen, Winner of the 2010 Open Championship
Lodewicus Theodorus, is a South African professional golfer, who won the 2010 Open Championship, often referred to as the British Open also. Theodorus is also known as, Louis Oosthuizen was born in Mossel Bay, South Africa on 19 October in 1982. His friends called him ‘Shrekkie’.
As a child, his hobbies were watching movies and hunting, as time passed on, Louis grew older, he started taking interest in golf.
Louis is married to woman named Nel Mare and in 2009; the couple had a daughter named Jana. Since last three years, Louis and his wife Nel-Mare have been living at Pinnacle Point Beach & Golf Resort. That is why Louis considers it his home.
Louis Oosthuizen became member of South African team in 2000 and his team won the World Amateur Team Championship that year. He won various titles as an amateur. His victory in 2000 World Junior Championship followed by the 2001 All African Games (Kenya) and then in 2002, the Indian Amateur Open Championship are among his main victories as an amateur.
 
Career
Louis Oosthuizen turned pro at the age of 19 in 2002. He won five professional tournaments on the Sunshine Tour, in 2004 Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour at Arabella.  In 2007, he won the Dimension Data Pro-Am, Platinum Classic and Telkom PGA Championship, winning the Telkom PGA Championship again in 2008.
Louis Oosthuizen won his first major European Tour event at the Open de Andalucia de Golf in March 2010. Louis also won the 2010 Master's Par 3 Contest.

His Best performance in 2010

On March 2010  In Trophee Hassan,Louis  Oosthuizen of South Africa closed in on his maiden European Tour title after shooting a 9-under 64 Saturday to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Trophee Hassan II.

 

In Telkom PGA Championship, Louis continued his good form in the Telkom PGA Championship at The Country where he finished in 3rd spot. Louis shot rounds of 66, 67, 69 and 68 leaving him on a four round total of eighteen under par.

 
His latest tournaments and recent achievements
Louis played in the Barclays Scottish open at Loch Lomond and in the first two rounds shot 71 and 74 giving a three over par 145 and missing the halfway cut by just one shot.
For the fourth time, Louis appeared at the British Open but despite that, he was not considered a contender for any major championship by critics. Nevertheless, later on he proved them wrong by making 3 shots.
Currently, Louis is playing in 139th British Open championship at the Old course, St Andrews. South Africa got another chance to smile after conducting successfully FIFA world cup 2010, when Louis Oosthuizen made a three stroke lead in the second round of British Open. He said that he was getting his confidence up, adding that St. Andrews’ Old Course is a great golf course and he loves it.
On Thursday, Louis made a spectacular 65 in the first round. Followed that 67 on Friday after which have placed him on 12 under par after 2 rounds and now, he is leading the championship.
  
His Vision
Louis Oosthuizen always dreamt of establishing a Golf Academy. This dream became a reality in March 2010, when he established the Louis Oosthuizen Junior Golf Academy.
 
His upcoming tours
He is scheduled to appear in the Nordea Scandinavian Masters from 22nd to 25th July 2010
After this another tour of the 3rd Irish Open, Killarney golf and fishing Club, Kerry, Ireland from 29th July 2010 – 1st August 2010.
He is very much excited about upcoming tours.  We wish him all the good luck for the British open and for his upcoming tours.
