Golf: Ricardo Gonzalez takes the lead in the second round of Castello Masters
The second round of the Castello Masters is in progress at Club de Campo del Mediterraneo in Valencia, Spain. Fifty-seven players have teed off and Ricardo Gonzalez is currently in the lead with a score of 14-under-par.
He is being chased by Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Gregory Bourdy with 11-under-par. Out of the trio, the 28-year-old Frenchman is working his way to the closing holes of the front nine. He has compiled the score after five holes.
Next on the leader board is the trio at 66: Peter Lawrie, Ignacio Garrido and Richard Finch. Lawrie, who performed terribly in the first round of the Castello Masters, has picked up pace and is hovering on six-under-par. He made
an aggregate of four-under after two rounds.
David Drysdale and Oliver Wilson carded a three-under to record a two day aggregate of seven-under.
Rest of the field is still in the process to complete their rounds in pleasant weather conditions. It is sunny at Club de Campo del Mediterraneo, but the wind is blowing southward. This would create problems while putting as accuracy
will be affected. On the other hand, the long hitters will enjoy the benefit of low winds as it enhances driving accuracy.
Sergio Garcia has teed off and he is one-under after four holes. The Spaniard carded 71 in the first round of the tournament, but what with the way he is lacking confidence on his home ground, chances are that he won’t be able
to seize the title. Garcia picked up one birdie in the first four holes of the front nine. Low scoring won’t be possible with the wind blowing; therefore, not much is being expected from the golfer.
Jose Maris Olazabal is two-over-par after 17 holes of the second round. The Spaniard gave putting lessons to Ricardo Gonzalez in the pro-am session, but since the first round he himself has been struggling with the putters.
The second round of the Castello Masters has not wrapped up, as half of the field is left. However, in a few hours, the final results of the leader board will show up. To find out who takes the lead, who retains the top spot, and
