Golf Rules: not just for the players but also for the spectators
Since the very start of golf, there has been tremendous amount of debate on the sport - about, is it a boring game? Is it a game for old people? And it is a very slow game.
In fact this it is not true. It might look slow but it is not at all boring. It may seem boring to the people who do not understand the game.
In reality, people play golf to release their tension. The world we live in is filled with daily tensions and in the present age, people usually do not have time for themselves. At this stage, golf plays a very important role in relaxing people.
Golf is a means of getting away from daily problems of life. It plays a vital role in soothing the mind. Usually a normal person plays golf all alone or with a couple of golf partners. All a person wants is to enjoy the green course and some peace and quiet.
If someone, a player, a spectator or a passer-by creates some sort of noise it can completely kill the purpose of golf. It can ruin the sport and even completely change the game.
So the point is that the spectators have some responsibility as well and there are some rules that they must follow.
The spectators should keep some things in mind on the golf course. There should be pin drop silence while a player is about to play a stroke. A noise could easily divert the attention of the player and affect the shot and the game.
The spectators should keep an appreciable distance from the players so that the player can completely concentrate on his shot.
One very important thing that the spectators should keep in mind is that they should not touch the ball while a player has played a shot and should not move it from one place to another. Even if it is done the penalty is not against the player, he just retakes
the shot.
That being said, the spectators on the course also have a bit of a responsibility regarding the game.
The help of the spectators can be taken by the committee to determine the number of strokes played by a player. Even the players can take a little help. The spectators can advise players as to how far the flag is or help the players with the rules of the
game.
