Golf Ryder Cup 2010: Americans take off in the singles
Lee Westwood’s shot has shed the pride off from the shoulders of Corey Pavin. He is 1 up against Steve Stricker. The duo was the first one to tee off today at Celtic Manor. Currently, he is on the 11th hole and chances are that he will run the American down. Lee Westwood is being considered the next world number two as soon as he wins the single along with the title which belongs to Phil Mickelson.
Rory McIlroy and Stewart Cink have also teed off, where the American is currently 1 up after ten holes. Rory Mc Ilory, on the other hand, had a fine start and he was 2 up on the first two holes but down the lane, he lost his pace and couldn’t make it up the next three holes. Currently, the 21-year-old is struggling against Cink after 11 holes.
On the other side, Dustin Johnson is 2 up against Martin Kaymer. Both the players have completed eight holes, and Kaymer is struggling against the player whom he did not have to face in the USPGA playoff.
Ian Poulter is 2 up against Matt Kucher after eight holes, whereas, Ross Fisher has covered five holes and is 2 up against his counterpart, Jeff Overton.
Bubba Watson and Miguel Angel Jimenez are all square after the six holes, whereas, Rickie Fowler and Edoardo Molinari equal after five holes.
The world number 2 Phil Mickelson is 4 up against Peter Hanson after four holes, whereas, Zach Johnson is 1up against Europe’s most loved Padraig Harrington.
Tiger Woods and Francesco Molinari have recently teed off. The Irish golfer has taken a lead over Tiger Woods in the first two holes, and he is 2 up against him. At the end are Hunter Mahan of United States and Graeme Mc Dowell. Out of this duo, the European is in a lead after three holes; thereby, he is 1 up.
Americans are in a better position, and they require seven victories in the singles to claim the Ryder Cup trophy. For further details, do follow the live update at Bettor.com.
