Golf Special Report: Australians eye PGA
All the golfers are on the lookout for The US PGA Tour cards for the year 2011 that will be handed out soon. They have waited patiently to earn the privilege of participating in golf’s richest tour.  Where everyone is trying so hard to be in the top 25,
three Australian players are especially eager to be part of the PGA next year.
Steve Bowditch, Scott Gardiner and Won Jon Lee are three Aussies especially in the spotlight. Bowditch, who is currently on number thirteen in the money list, is very calm and collected. The player is happy to learn that he’ll finally be going back to the
circuit that gave him a hard time in 2006 and part of 2007.
Another Australian who cannot be so relaxed is Gardiner, who very closely made it to the top 24. Winning the Chattanooga Tournament earlier this month caused the Queensland champion to make his way to the 22nd spot. Being in this position, Gardiner
really needs to give all he can to earn his playing card for next year. Looking at the enthusiasm instilled in the player, it seems as if he won’t let anyone take his spot in the Nationwide Tour Championship.
Gardiner could be threatened by none another than by his compatriot, the 25-year-old Won Jon Lee. This New South Welshman is talented, focused and prevailing. This is evident from the way he hoisted from 66th place to 33rd place last
week. This was all thanks to his second place finish in the Jacksonville Open at TPC Sawgrass and fourth place tie at the Miccosukee Championship.
Lee, who loved his time on the Nationwide Tour, thinks it’s time to work harder. He said he is capable of much more and it’s about time he earns it.
"This is a great tour and I've played here for three years," said Lee."Now, I think I need to get a little more focused and practice a little harder to better my game to see if I can make it on the regular Tour."
All together, there are seven Australians participating in the Nationwide Tour Championship. The Nationwide Tour Championship will be the final showdown between the contenders for next year’s PGA Card. This $1 Million event will take place at Daniel Island
in South Carolina and will start on Thursday. Looking at the game they’ve got, they all have fair chances of earning the PGA tour card for next year.
