Golf Special Report: Celebrities and golf (Part 1)
Golf is a pretty popular sport among the elite class. Regardless of whether it’s politicians, businessman, and celebrities and of course professional golf players. Celebrities and golf really merge together as it clearly adds to their classiness. In Hollywood,
there are many celebrities who have made golf an integral part of their life.
Justin Timberlake is very popular in the music world and in golf as well. He is so passionate about the sport he has even made a golf course in his hometown Memphis. Not only does he have his own golf course, the gorgeous pop star also has a tournament named
after him. Even after achieving so much, the pop sensation wants to become a professional golf player. That’s something Timberlake can definitely dream about seeing how good he is on the greens. He is also seen to follow the philosophy of the great rock star
Alice Cooper, who chose golf over alcohol. His very own tournament, The Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital for Children Open will start on October 21st in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Next up is our very own quarterback Tony Romo. This cowboy has the golfing tactics that could even give the champions a run for their money. Romo has attempted to qualify for the U.S Open many times. Even though poor chap has tried, he could never make
it. Playing as a professional player for the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo definitely sticks out as a football player who plays golf as well. In May, as Romo played on a Dallas qualifying course, he carded a 2 under 69 and hence was really struggling to be chosen
for U.S Open. Focusing on a whole different sporting career, and still competing in qualifying rounds for another is just amazing.
Clint Eastwood is also a celebrity that enjoys golf. Just like J.T, Eastwood has a tournament after his name as well. The 7th annual Clint Eastwood Golf Tournament took place in May this year and was held at the Teháma Golf Club. Clint Eastwood
actually built this exclusive golf course in the hills above Carmel Valley. This prestigious golf course is open only to Mr.Eastwood’s close friends and associates and has a membership of $135,000 per head.
A golf course, a tournament, is that not enough? Apparently, it’s not enough for Clint, who also owns his own clothing line by the name of Tehama. The company showcases men’s and women’s golf apparel. The line, produced by Eastwood himself and Nancy Haley,
has amazing pieces and gives golfers the desired sophisticated look they want.
This golf wear is sold in resorts and country clubs and in upscale departmental stores. The look is inspired by the styling of 1940’s and is still fitting the modern day mindset. The men‘s collection is called Tehama for Clint and the women’s collection
is called Tehama by Nancy Haley.
Not only are their celebrities who play golf, but also celebrity couple who actually bonded because of golf. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are happily married and golfing. In an interview, Douglas actually said that all his fantasies came true
when he met Catherine because she was so gorgeous and could play golf as well. As they both love the sport, and are in the same careers, it appeared as if cupid had done his work. Then of course, being a celebrity, he does need to have his own golf tournament.
The tenth Annual Michael Douglas and Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament was held in June 2008 in California. The tournament is scheduled to come back again in 2011 and is bound to be a very grand event.
Catherine Zeta Jones actively participated in the opening ceremony of the biggest golfing event this year. She hosted the show in Wales for the 2010 Ryder Cup and actually became very sentimental when talking about her husband. Despite his passion for golf,
Douglas couldn’t make it to the ceremony since he is completing his cancer treatment. Diagnosed with throat Cancer, Michael is going under treatment and according to Jones, he is holding up very well.
