Golf Special Report: Is this the End of Legendary Golfer, Tiger Woods
The WGC-Bridgestone invitational has ended and Tiger Woods’ has not produced any positive results. Is Tiger Woods’ career finish? Will he make appearances in the upcoming events of 2010, is a question to be pondered on.
According to the media reports, Tiger Woods will be playing in the PGA and the Barclays, but will he continue further will be tough question. He needs confidence after a terrible week like this at the firestone country club, in which he delivered four rounds with 74-72-75-77, which is so unlike him.
As far as where to play to get back in the form is concerned, then Whistling Straits and leafy Ridgewood Country Club are certainly not the right type of courses.
Tiger Woods has recently dropped to No. 119 on the FedEx list, which predicts that he might not be able to make a cut in the Barclays. Moreover, rumours have hit the news that the wounded Tiger might be taking few months off after the PGA championship similar to Sergia Garcia. Perhaps, Tiger has finally realized that is time to take some mental rest. Rejuvenation is one of the cures for lack of confidence, but the chances of success are very low when it comes to golf. Not many players have been spotted on the top of the leader board after they fell from it!
Moreover, Tiger Woods can’t putt and he fails to hit it close even with his scoring clubs. This can be justified by the WGC-Bridgestone invitational last round when he swings his 8-iron from the centre of the fairway. He seemed to have no control at all.
Quite lately, another change has been noticed in Tiger Woods relationship with his caddie, Stevie Williams. He is hardly seen speaking to him on the course, moreover Tiger Woods does not take suggestions from him regarding the club selection. One answer to his attitude is that, when a player is lagging behind, then the only goal is to hit the ball and save it from the hazards.
Tiger Woods finished the Bridgestone Invitational with a big humiliation. He was the second last on the leader board, followed by Henrik Stenson. The humiliation was evident after six bogeys, two double bogeys and 33 putts. It was hard to recognize the same guy a year ago on the same course, when he was smashing the lowest score with 65’s and stood with a trophy at the end of the day. According to the experts, Tiger Woods is altogether a different man. He might play again with the same strength and confidence but will he be able to get back is glory is a tough question.
The once roaring Tiger is not practicing enough. The world’s number 1 according to the official world golf ranking is no more in the top 100 on the FedEx list. Moreover, he is 193rd in greens in regulation from 75 to 125 yards and 194th in shooting from 30 yards. These stats define a player who is not consistent with the practice run ups.
If he isn’t practicing then what is he doing? According to the media reports, Tiger Woods is concentrating on his family, as the man once said that his family always came first! If that was the stance then what was the point of cheating? Woods has things that are more important on his mind than golf right now, in that case one only prays for his troubles to drift away.
On the whole, Tiger Woods is still the Number 1 on the OWGR but his performance is declining consistently starting from the Scottish Open, which took place at his favourite venue ‘the Old Course’, to the Bridge Stone Invitation, which finished on the Firestone Country Club, yet another favourite venue. His career is certainly not finished, although he won’t be able to make the cut in The Ryder cup, which is due in October 2010.
