Golf Special Report: JBWere Australian Masters' betting odds (Part 2)
Victoria Golf Club will witness the JBWere Australian Masters from Thursday onwards. The event comes every year to Australia in November. However, this time it is back with the finest golfers from the continent along with the likes of Tiger Woods and Sergio
Garcia.
For the ones who have read the first half of the betting odds of JBWere Australian Masters, here is the second half:
Robert Allenby:
The next man on the list is a local of Australia, which means he has some serious chances to claim an admirable spot.
Robert Allenby can prove as a strong competition for the world number two at Victoria Golf Club. The 39-year-old was the runner-up at SBS Championship and chased six top-25 finishes in eight events. However, he claimed his debut victory at Australian PGA
Championship and followed it with another win at Nedbank Challenge.
Allenby bagged a top 21 finish last week at Sheshan International Golf Club, where HSBC Championship was staged. Prior to that he finished fifth in Malaysia and third in the McGladrey Classic, which is a strong background. One thing common between Victoria
Golf Club and Sea Island Resort is that both the courses have been designed for shot game. This drafts a notion that if a player is able to conquer one course, then he will surely seize the other as well.
In McGladrey, the Aussie was ranked second in greens hit and putting stats whereas he was fourth in Malaysia. This gives way to the fact that chances are he will continue with the same pace at Australian Masters. Apart from this, the player is a member of
Victoria Golf Club, which puts another advantage in his bag.
In 2002, the player seized the top sixth spot at the Australian Open, which signifies that if Allenby continues with an accurate game, then chances are he might finish in the top lot.
Greg Chalmers:
Greg Chalmers won the Australian Players' Championship and the Australian Open in 2008. The 37-year-old lefty finished in the top quarter of the leader board in four of last five starts. This shows his worthiness of being a betting favourite.
Like all other betting favourites, he also has a strong relationship with the course. The 1993 Australian Amateur claimed a top 20 finish in the 2002 Australian Open, despite opening with a pathetic round. Regardless of the putting stats, Chalmers claimed
three top two finishers in four appearances that he made on this venue. This helps in apprehending that the player has a fair idea of the course.
When compared to rest of the field, one can see a clear advantage on Chalmers’ side; he is excellent at putting surface. The Australian knows how to track changes according to different greens; hence, it is seldom that he would miss a long putt.
This is it for the betting preview of the JBWere Australian Masters, which will start on November 11th at Victoria Golf Club in Victoria. The event is carrying a purse of $1.35 million out of which $250,000 will go to the winner. The event will
mark the end of the PGA tour Australasia 2010, which means each one of the field will fight hard for the title.
Few will play to retain the card, while, rest will fight to end the year with respect. As for Tiger Woods, he will take part in the combat to draw a victory in his PGA tour. The 34-year-old professional has been winless in 2010, owing to personnel problems
which ultimately had a negative impact on his career.
However, a question will remain vaulted in the minds of the golf fraternity till the coming weekend; Will Tiger Woods end his dry spell at Australian Masters or not?
