Golf Special Report: Kaymer or McDowell- Who will be Europe's next number one?
One is Irish and the other is German. Both lay side by side on the map as well on the Race to Dubai rankings. Most of all, they will face each other on the coming Thursday at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai for $7500, 000.They were on same sides in Celtic
Manor, but now they will fight each other for the throne.
The battle started as a 48-tournament race casing 27 venues and will be conclude with  the final tournament comprised of  72-holes.Top contestants of the race include Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell and Lee Westwood. However, only one of them will be a crown
European Number One by Sunday.
25 year-old Kaymer is ahead of the 31 year-old McDowell by €290,910 in The Race to Dubai Rankings. With a winner prize of €910,348 on offer, the change is simple. The one who wins the prize money at Jumeirah Golf Estates will become the reigning king. Kaymer,
who hails from Germany, won the US PGA Championship, the KLM Open, and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he raced towards his final destination. Four victories pushed him into the lead in The Race to Dubai and have now dubbed him as the ideal candidate
for the title.
Kaymer is excited for the upcoming experience. He said, “It’s been a fantastic season for me. To win my first Major and to be part of the winning Ryder Cup Team is way above my expectations, to be honest. But obviously when you win a Major, you know
that you can win any tournament in the world. I have played very well the last few months and going into this week, I feel confident about my game. Hopefully I can play well, and make sure that I win The Race to Dubai somehow.”
On the other hand, the Irish, McDowell won thrice in the year. He triumphed at the Celtic Manor Wales Open and followed it with the US Open Championship in June. Moreover, he was the one who saved European team from a loss at Celtic Manor when he picked
up a point against Hunter Mahan. To spark up the competition, G-Mac claimed a trophy at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters and spurred a tie between him and the German.
The player acclaimed that he was very happy with his form and his energy levels going into Dubai. He said,
“Of course I am within touching distance now and I’ve got to play well, simple as that “I can’t control Martin’s golf ball – only mine. I am going to go and play my own game and see what happens. I have a few things to brush up on but, all in all, I’m feeling
really good about my game. I’m playing well enough to win and that’s all I can ask.”
After observing the achievements, one question emerges, who will win the title and who will get his name written on the champions list after Lee Westwood. The world number one secured the Dubai World Championship in 2009 and earned the $7, 5000, 000-bonus
fund sponsored by DP World.
Westwood is standing at the third place in The Race to Dubai despite having an injury-curtailed season. The 39-year-old might not chase Kaymer well, but he will surely give him a tough completion after all he is the defending champion.
Another contender out of the list incurred injury after winning the Open in July.  Louis Oosthuizen conquered St Andrews in July and lost several chances of elevating his ranking, owing to the foot injury, which he earned in return of the adventure in Africa.
He missed the PGA Grand Slam 2010 and fell to the 10th place in Race to Dubai.
These four veterans will be facing each other in Jumeirah Golf Estates on 25th November, but according to the media tabloids, the real battle will be between Kaymer and Graeme keeping in view their form.
