Golf Special Report: Turning Stone Resort Championship
This is the championship which is taking place on, 2nd August -8th August 2010 at the Atunyote Golf Club in New York, USA.
The Turning Stone Resort Championship is first of its kind. It has been scheduled annually in fall under the supervision of PGA TOUR on American Indian Lands.
HISTORY
Turning Stone Resort, where this event is taking place is an enterprise of the Oneida Indian Nation. The championship is taking place to mark the collaboration of Americans and Indians residing in this area. Central New York was the land of Oneida, the Indians and their territory stretched from the St. Lawrence River to the Susquehanna. When the first settlers came to Oneida, a strong friendship grew between them and this bond forced the Indians to take sides with the colonists to drive British out of the States during the revolution.
Turning Stone Resort
The venue is located at Mohawk Valley, which is situated in the heart of Central New York City. The resort is stretched on 1,200-acre with luxurious hotel accommodations, spa, a variety of gourmet bakeries, restaurants cinema, dance club and five championship golf courses.
Past champions
Matt Kuchar
In 2009, Matt Kuchar won the Turning Stone Resort Championship, seven years after his 1st PGA tour.
His last memory on the course is of a tie at -17 with Vaughn Taylor. There was a tough battle between the two players on the first four holes for playoff when the match got suspended because of darkness. The players continued the next day despite unpleasant weather conditions, till Matt Kuchar won.
Dustin Johnson
In 2009, Dustin Johnson won the Turning Stone Resort Championship by making his way through harsh weather conditions with rain and wind. Dustin Johnson kept his focus and birdied the final two holes to capture a one shot victory over Robert Allenby. He won the prize money of $1,080,000 as the champion.
Dustin Johnson turned professional in 2007 and played marvellously by posting a four day total of 279 to finish one shot ahead of Robert Allenby and two shots ahead of a large group of best golfers that included Woody Austin, Davis Love III and Ryuji Imada.
Steve Flesch
The first player to win on this course in 2007 was Steve Flesch. Turning Stone Resort Championship was his second victory in 2007 and the 4th on the PGA TOUR. He posted a four day total of 18 under par 270, and collected the $1,080,000 winner's check.
Steve Flesch a native of Cincinnati, Ohio was born in 1967 and is currently a resident of Union, Kentucky. He began his career as a right-handed player, but later he switched to his left-hand. He holds the title of being one of the four left-handers to win on the Nationwide Tour. Steve Flesch turned professional in 1990 and played on the Nationwide Tour until 1998.

Social responsibility
The event has been raising the Upstate New York Empowerment Fund since 3 years and by now; it has raised approximate $750,000 for local charities through ticket sales on the Turning Stone Resort Championship.
The event is going to gather big names of golf. The event is expecting around 130 players around the world. These names include Nathan green, Brent Delahoussaye, Brendon de Jonge, and Dean Wilson. However, out of these four, the betting favourite is Brendon de Jonge because of his T3 finish in Green bier Classic 2010.
The event which is scheduled on 2nd August -8th August 2010, at the Atunyote Golf Club in New York, USA is all set to take over the New Yorkians with some good quality entertainment.
