Yesterday I went to the driving range. I was driving them far and strait. But today I went and I was doing the same swing but it kept going to the left horribly. From what i remember I was doing the same swing then I was doing the day before? Any Idea what it could be?

  1. In general, try to avoid holding your club so that your hands are turned to the far left of your club. This grip is well known to produce ball slices. Here are some tips for gripping the club so that you can avoid slicing the ball. When you get into your golf stance, make sure your clubface is held squarely against the target. Try to get into the orthodox V grip, wherein your fingers should be in a V shape and pointing towards your right shoulder.

  2. You haven't yet created a 'consistent swing'. You most likely are doing something differently than on the previous day. Practice, practice, and practice some more.

  3. Golf is a crazy game, I play it (occasionaly) and it can be very frustrating.  Some days you hit the ball straight, other days it's a mess.  I have gotten a lot better recently though.  I had a lot of the same problems as you except I sliced the ball, (it went right when I hit it) I found this website though that was amazing.  There's a ton of free insight from this golf instructor, Andy Brown.  He asks you to buy some stuff too, but you totally don't need to, he gives a bunch of tips for free.  I bought the whole thing (it was only like 20 bucks) and it has helped a lot I can't wait to golf way more this summer.  Well good luck and I hope this helps you.

  4. Ya, golf is nuts.  If your not an everyday player its so hard to create a consistent swing.  Keep practicing, watch tomorow will be a good day....PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE...

  5. You may be holding your grip to hard, loosen up the grip & you should be fine. When I try to kill the ball driving it always heads left.

  6. Your clubface is turning in at impact

  7. Standing too close to the ball?

  8. A hook is caused by the face being closed at impact.  What is causing the face to close could be a lot of different things, grip, swing plane, early release of hands/wrists.  Can't tell without seeing you swing.

  10. Good comment on holding grip too tight and trying to kill the ball.  Both are a factor in poor shots.

I have one more suggestion though,  it is possible that the ball is too far forward in your stance.  Try a nice fluid swing, with a loose grip and play the ball a little more towards center.

    And of course Practice.

    Hope this helps

  11. Grip pressure is one thing to check; the other is swing speed.  Mine go left when I either swing too hard or start the downswing with a sudden 'jerk' instead of letting the backswing finish first...
