Golf: Tiger Woods looks forward to meeting his playing partner at Celtic Manor
Tiger Woods stated that he has confidence in his Ryder Cup team captain and therefore he has no issue pairing up with Steve Stricker.
The world number one was talking to the press on Saturday morning and said that he was perfectly confident about Corey Pavin’s decision. Although Tiger is not certain whether he will have Steve Stricker as
his playing partner in the Ryder Cup, he said is looking forward to teaming up the winner of the John Deere Classic.
Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods paired up in 2009 Presidents Cup and won all four matches they played in. The couple was a success and if Corey decides to put them together again, then surely great things will follow.
Currently though, Tiger Woods has to take care of his own game. This is the reason he is found practicing day and night with his coach, Sean Foley. Tiger wrote on his website that he has never missed a match in the past but
that he is waiting for October to decide what happens next.
According to media reports, Tiger will be catching the plane to
Wales on Sunday night. He will visit the course with his caddie, Steve Williams. The purpose behind making such a visit is getting to know the course and its features, so that on the final day, the player won’t have problems in adjusting
to it.
According to Tiger, his primary goal is do his best to win at Celtic Manor so that he can help the team achieve its goals.
Aside from this, Tiger Woods revealed that he was going to go barefoot in
Wales to recapture his game. He further explained that his coach, Sean Foley, has asked him to do this as it will be helpful in maintaining balance. Looks like Tiger, for the first time, is in the mood of listening to what the coach
has to say. Earlier, Tiger Woods has worked with Butch Harmon and Hank Haney but he never seemed to take on board any of their more unorthodox advice.
Commenting on his change of swings, Tiger Woods said that although it was tough learning a new swing, he was still learning them fast.
Additionally, Tiger thanked his fans for their immense support and said that this time he won’t let them down. Tiger is at his
Florida home getting ready for the Ryder Cup which is only a week away. Earlier, he fell out of contention for the Tour Championship that is currently taking place in
Atlanta at East Lake Country Club. Tiger failed to reach the Top 30 players on the FedEx standings and a result couldn’t compete.
On the other hand, Tiger is better off at home as this will be give him some time to relax and get prepared, quite like the European Ryder Cup team. Out of the twelve team members on the European team, only one is out on
the field and that is Luke Donald. Currently, he is at East Lake Country Club giving a good challenge to the Americans.
