Golf Update: 2nd day of the Canadian Open
Dean Wilson, one of the tour pro’s of the Canadian Open, having eighteen years of tour experience under his belt, is the leader of the Canadian Open. Tim Clark is also tied for the lead after the second round, as a result of playing quite well. He managed 6 under par at the end of the second day with 64. Dean Wilson on the other hand managed to come up with 65 as he did on the first day.
Dean Wilson has already to date earned $18,000,000 on the PGA tour. The 2nd day at the Canadian Open was another day on which low scores were seen. The St. George’s course, as expected suits anyone with good straight hitting abilities.
Tim Clark was however disappointed with his performance. He expected more from himself, the way he was driving but couldn’t manage the leader board to reflect it. The day also saw Brent Delahoussaye slip down to number three with nine under par. Steve Wheatcroft shared the third spot with the yesterday’s leader.
Steve Wheatcroft is another well reputed player who became a pro in 2001 and thus far has managed to bag $800,000. After managing to match the record on the first day’s play, Delahoussaye came up with 69 on the second.
The Canadian Open doesn’t have some of the big names of golf. This for some would be an opportunity to get hold of the winner’s check and enjoy it in the coming days.
One of the attracting and interesting players to watch out for is Nathan Green. Nathan Green, currently in ninth position is playing to defend his title and come out on top again. He has managed to get to minus seven thus far.
Kevin Surtherland was another player to watch as he managed the best round of the day. He also matched the record of the tournament and his career best to reach 5 under. This might have been due to the reason that players were allowed to use the preferred lies in the fairways. Rain as forecasted delayed the start of play for two hours. Taking the advantage of the conditions when play started, Kevin was able to put this splendid performance.
Canadian star Mike Weir, was one the players from whom the level if expectancy of the Canadians were high. He however didn’t improve on his first day’s performance. He failed to make it to the cut with 74. He said that it very hard to score in the rough conditions.  This is the 12th time in the 20 Canadian Cups he took part in, and he failed to make the cut.
Adam Hadwin, another talented and young, upcoming player from British Columbia shot a 66. He put up an amazing display of golf while holing 15 foot par putt on the 18th hole. He displayed some good skills in the sport which in return resulted in him being ahead of the 18 Canadians at 6 under. Steven Ames is another player; Canadian citizen belonging from Trinidad and Tobago after 68 was 5 under.
Hadwin was very happy following his performance on the second day of the Canadian Open. He made his first PGA tour start and said that when he saw the scoreboard, he realized that he was at in 6th position after seeing that Ames occupied the 5th spot. He was very happy about how things went for him on his first PGA tour. This resulted in his moral being sky high he said and made his weekend all the more special.
Delahoussaye, the first day’s leader was in the same group as Hadwin. Talking about Hadwin, Delahoussaye said that the young player who was fresh from college showed no signs of this tour being his first. He also said that the young and talented golfer didn’t let his nerves come on top and managed to hit and most importantly putt well.
