Golf Update: Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2010- Winners trail behind a rookie

The Ryder Cup team trails behind, while John Parry takes the lead with a margin of four strokes against the Sweden's Martin Erlandsson.
After four hectic days of Ryder Cup, it was quite expected that the winners of the $ 5.5 million purse will be drained and won’t be seen in the top most corner of the leader board. Despite, six of the squad members along with the vice-captain, Thomas Bjorn
were seen at considerable good positions after the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
Out of those nine players, Ross Fisher was at the top third spot with a score of 68.  He shared this position with the Spanish player, Alvaro Quiros. Next to him was the winner of USPGA championship; Martin Kaymer. He surged to the top third group after
carding a score of 68 in the first round proceeded by a 69 in the second.  His overall aggregate showed 137 strokes from two days. According to the analysts, all three gave a very good performance despite terrible weather conditions and long pars at the Old
Course in St. Andrews. The weather was wet, windy, and cold which made it pretty difficult for the long hitters like Quiros to shoot long drives from the tee.
Ross Fisher, who scored the lowest score in the Ryder Cup squad said, "When we saw the forecast it seemed like this was probably the best of the three courses to be at, but that was about as brutal as I've ever seen the back nine plays. I wouldn't have
come here if I didn't feel like my game was ready to win. Obviously the celebrations were pretty good, but I wouldn't say I feel tired."
Next to the group was the European star that defeated Hunter Mahan in the singles at the Ryder Cup, Graeme McDowell. The US open champion opened the first round with a 70 but improved it and shot a 68 on Friday to take the sixth spot of the leader board.Like
his team mate Fisher, he teed off at Old Course.
Further below was the vice-captain Thomas Bjorn, defending champion Simon Dyson and Padraig Harrington. Out of the trio, Harrington shot the lowest score of 68 followed by Dyson who teed off with the Hollywood star; Hugh Grant. Thomas Bjorn who entered the
second round with a 66 wrapped it with a one-over-par.
Francesco Molinari improved his score and shot a 69 in the second round to finish the two day session with 3-under. He was followed by Martin Liard and Maarten Lafeber: the first round leaders. Both the players shot a 75 in the second round to take the 17th
spot of the leader board. Moreover, Lee Westwood and Colin Montgomerie made a 72 each to complete the round with par. As for Westy, rumours were that he was planning to take a withdrawal from the event due to the recurrence of the calf injury which is got
when he turned his right foot while coming off the seventh tee. The winner of the Ryder Cup bided that he will dethrone Tiger Woods from his number one title. With a score of 70 and 72 in first two rounds, this claim does not seem to get fulfilled.
Last but not the least; Rory McIlroy and Edoardo Molinari were in the bottom most spot out of the leader board, while rest of the squad was in considerable better position. Both the players failed to break the par and were seen struggling on the back nine.
This is it for the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship which was taking place at three different courses in Scotland. The chosen locations for the $2.7 million purse are Kingsbarns, Carnoustie Golf Club and Old Course- St Andrews.
