Golf Update: “Being number one is a big responsibility”-Lee Westwood
The thirty seven years old and world’s number one golfer from England, Lee Westwood is of the view that the world’s top rank of golf is a very big responsibility.
In a very recent interview the new world champ of the golfing world, Lee Westwood expressed his thoughts and told the media that being the top rank holder of golf is not less than a responsibility for him and he will not sit ducks and continue to play his
better game to maintain his world’s best ranking.
For the people who are unaware of the matter, it is to be notified that Lee has recently usurped the world number one rank from the American legendary golfer, Tiger Woods. Tiger has conquered the golf courses of the world for more than five years and the
end of his supremacy is no doubt very frustrating for him.
While talking about the fact Westwood expressed his thoughts and told the media that the current situation is no doubt very frustrating for Tiger and he must be focusing over his game to regain his lost rank. Lee added and said that he is very well aware
of Tiger Woods’ mentality, as he will not sit idle and will try to regain his lost winning form as soon as possible to snatch the world number one rank back from him.
While talking about his responsibilities after topping the list of world’s golfers, the Englishman said that the real work has just started for him and he will try to maintain his superb form to sustain the top position of the golfing world.
While answering to a question about Tiger Woods’ current performances, the Briton expressed that Woods has just started to play better as his absence from the golf course had dragged him out of the good playing form. He added and said that the thirty four
years old American is currently working over his shots and he will be displaying a better game very soon.
Westwood admired the game of his American arch rival and said that Woods had strongly ceased the world number one spot for a very long time and he has raised the level of performance really high for all the other golfers and to compete with him is not an
easy task.
It is to be noticed that the Briton Lee Westwood is the second English golfer who has clutched the world number one golfing rank. Before Westwood, Nick Faldo was the only golfer from England who was ranked as the number one golfer. While talking about the
fact the Briton said that it is no doubt a very great and overwhelming feeling for him as he has worked hard and has given his full to snatch the highest rank of the game. He added that being world number one is not less than a dream coming true for him.
Lee Westwood told the media about his future plans and ambitions and said that he will continue to play in the European golf events and will try to keep himself fit for the upcoming golfing events. It is also to be noticed that Westwood has been suffering
from a calf injury and he has currently side lined him from the golf course but to him he will recover very soon and will be back to the golf course.
The thirty seven years old is of the view that American golf courses do not suit him and that is why he will not play in most of the golfing events which will held in America. He said that he will try to keep his focus towards his game in Europe.
