Golf Update: Bernhard Langer new champion & Fredrick Steven runner up of U.S Senior Open 2010
Fredrick Steven Couples is the runners up of the US Senior Open 2010, which was being held at the Sahalee Country Club, Seattle Washington.
This Sunday wrapped up in the name of the new champion who was Bernhard Langer, but next to him on a very close tie was Fredrick Steven Couples. Not only this that he gave a real tough time to the champion but he was the only player on the course for whom the crowd roared and clapped.
Fredrick Steven couples an Italian c*m American, entered the final round with a tremendous 65 sharing the top 1 position with the champion. He took off the final round with an 8-foot birdie on the first hole. The crowd cheered on the tremendous shot delivered by the player; however, they stopped when he missed his third shot on the second hole when it plunged right into the water hazard in the middle of the green.  
According to the experts, Fred did not pick up his pace after the triple bogey on the second hole. It seemed as if his quest for the victory at the U.S. Senior Open came down.
The player, who is 127 according to the official world golf ranking, was disturbed over his decision making. His choice of a wrong iron dipped his entire score card into trouble. According to the 50-year-old, it happens to everyone at some point of the game. Taking a precise decision on fairways with so much certainty with an age factor prevailing, can at times results in a poor game.
Moreover, it seemed as if Fredrick Steven Couples could not take the triple bogey out of his head till the end of the round. His confident lacked and his strategy down the line became weaker.
This resident of Santa Barbara was the honorary chairman of the event. This is the second time when he has landed his name to some event. This event was a little special, as it was being held at his home town.
Moving forward, other players who shined on the course were John Cook, Olin Browne and Tom Watson. The two Americans other than Tom Watson played really well with 2 under. They scored 67 and 65 respectively in the final round. However, Tom Watson’s performance in the first three rounds was not satisfactory and did not make it to the par, but the final round with a 65 was a good try by the 60-year-old.
When most of the attention was on the first group on the leader board, Olin Browne cannot be neglected. He played quietly but delivered the best round of the day. Olin Browne shot five birdies on his front nine holes with an aggregate of 30. According to the experts this “30” on the front nine was the best score of the week. It was the turning point for the player that resulted into a tie for the third position.
Other par breakers were Larry Mize (68),Tom Lehman(69),Dans Forsman(67),Joey Sindelar(68),Pavin Corey(68)Hal Sutton(69) and Tasukasa Watanabe(68).
There were certain flukes of the day as well and they include Tom Kite, who had a chance to finish in the top 5 until he reached the 16th hole, where he delivered a quadruple bogey. Tom Kite finished at 3 over with a tie for the eight positions.
However, the final game was stolen by Bernhard Langer, who finished with 8 under and did not miss a single shot. He was the only player to break par in all four rounds of the tournament.
The final round of the US senior open 2010 ended on Sunday in front of a crowd of 31,444.According to the media reports this was the largest crowd of the week, where fans came to support their players and witness the champion of the tournament. The champion was Bernhard Langer followed by Fredrick Steven Couples in the second position.
