Golf Update - Bernhard Langer wins the US Senior Open golf tournament

Once again a European steals the throne! Bernhard Langer won the US Senior Open on Sunday at Sahalee Country Club, in Seattle, Washington by scoring a three-under par 67. Frederick Steven Couples chased him to the second position after scoring 65 in the final round.
After winning the Senior British Open crown a week back at Carnoustie, Bernhard Langer had his second victory in a row when he won the US senior open championship. The 53-year-old German birdied three of the first six holes of front nine. Without dropping a single shot he managed to retain his title of the season’s highest money earner in the 50 plus Champions Tour.
Bernhard Langer is a two-time Masters Champion and he is the only player who broke par in all four rounds and finished 72 holes with eight-under par 272. After Tom Watson who won the Senior British Open and Tradition in 2003 with a gap of only two weeks, Bernhard Langer is the second player to add this triumph to his golfing career.
The player himself is shocked at his performance as he was not expecting a back to back victory with a time difference of 8 hours on a course extremely challenging. According to analysts, this was probably the best performance of Bernhard Langer in all these years.
The German played a tremendous round with no bogeys and six birdies. However, Frederick Steven Couples was very near to the leader but just because of a very critical mistake done by him Bernhard Langer leaped into the lead of 3-under 67.
Although the crowd was roaring wildly for their home town favourite, Frederick, but Bernhard Langer did not get disappointed and fought bravely until he convinced the crowd that the rightful owner of this applause was none other than him.
Fred Couples completed the final round with 70, with an overall score of 275. Following him were the Americans; Olin Browne and John Cook who shared the third position with a score of 278. The last player on the list of top 5 was the 60-year-old Tom Watson with a score of 281.
This is the second time when Frederick has lent his name to a major championship being held in his home town. He was also the honorary chairman for the event; To keep up with the status he was given in the tournament Fred’s  performance in the 3rd round with a score of 65 on Saturday was marvellous itself.
Fred started the round with a beautiful 8-foot birdie giving the spectators an impression of being the player who would be holding the trophy. Unfortunately, his second hole turned into a triple-bogey at the par-5 and this impression became invalid.
According to the experts, Frederick Steven could not recover after the second hole. His third shot into the water hazards dipped the overall scorecard into trouble.
Moving forward, Frederick congratulated the champion and accepted his victory. He said that, Bernhard’s performance and game plan was truly remarkable as playing on a course with par 72 is a bit too challenging for the players of age 50 and plus.
Despite facing a defeat in the final round of the US Senior Open 2010, Fred Couples cherished his return home. He was happy to be in his people who showered tremendous love and support for him on the course. According to the player, for him this was the real victory.
Finally the day ended on the course of Sahalee Country Club and the tournament has been wrapped up. The winner of the US Senior Open 2010 has been declared and it is none other than Bernhard Langer with a victory of eight under par. According to the experts, Bernhard Langer played really well. He knew how to tackle the ball in rough weather and he played his shots with tremendous accuracy. Fred on the other hand was equally good, if only he would have planned his shots with a little more trajectory, he could have been the winner.
