Golf Update: Bhullar falls from the first spot to the 25th after the second round
Due to worsening weather, the first round leader of the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open, Bhullar has slipped to the 25th spot of the leader board. He has posted a score five-over 76.
Bhullar's overall total stood at one-over 143 after the eighteenth hole. However, yesterday, this Indian was the only player to shoot a bogey-free round. Today, he has stumbled to seven bogeys against few birdies.
"The conditions were quite tough. I didn't hit the ball as good as yesterday. I missed a lot of fairways and the iron play wasn't up to the mark. I missed so many greens in regulation which caused my high scoring today," Bhullar said after the round.
According to him, most of the holes he played were against the direction of the wind. This ultimately affected everyone on the field and therefore low scores could not achieve. He further added that he lacks consistency in his game this year. Although he started
the season with very good results but down the lane, he could not keep up with the pace. He is taking this as a lesson to make his game more consistent in the coming years. Moreover, he said that he will try to chase the score in the coming round and correct
few mental and technical errors which he made today.
Among other Indians, were SSP Chowrasia (76) and Anirban Lahiri (73) just about managed to make the cut at the tied 56th spot with totals of five-over 147.
However, it was disaster for C Muniyappa, whose terrible 78 left him with a total of 10-over 152, five strokes adrift of the cut-line.
Local golfer Ryuchi Oda, who has missed his last two cuts and is searching for his second victory in Japan, held the lead with a total of four-under 138 after carding a 70 in the second round. Apart from him, Ryo Ishikawa has surged to the second spot of the
leader board with the help of his hole-in-one on the 15th hole. He has settled with a score of 70 to lay one shot behind Oda.
