Golf Update: Bradley out of the Ryder cup team for being 20mins late to the tournament!
Bradley Dredge has lost the chance of qualifying for the Ryder cup team after getting a penalty at the venue of Prosper Resort in Celadna, which is holding the 6th edition of the Czech Open.
The 37-year-old could only curse himself for being 20 minutes late for the tournament that was taking place at the Prosper Resort. The result of being late was a 2 shot penalty which changed the score of 65 into 67. The two-stroke penalty imposed on Bradley Dredge at the Czech Open on Friday was not the same sensational as Dustin Johnson’s club rubbing news and hence did not get the same attention. The only thing that Bradley earned was a bad news of not playing at the event that was being held at his home soil.
As for Dustin Johnson, he was caught grounding his clubs in a sand bunker which apparently looked like a heap of leaves and dust. However, the consequences faced by the player were apparently very clear as he too was charged with a 2 shot penalty that changed his top 1 position to top 5th in the USPGA championship that took place a week ago.
Coming back to the dreadful Bradley Dredge, he resumed the game today with a lag of 4 shots behind the leaders of the first day Peter Hanson and Fredrik Widmark.
According to the player, he presumed the time to be 12; 10 when it was 12.20 which meant that he was already 20 minutes late for the tee time and during the tournament being late for more than 5 minutes mean getting disqualified or a penalty. At the end of the day, getting a penalty is better than getting disqualified!
According to a correspondent, Bradley Dredge tries to sneak by but he was pointed out by Chilean Felipe Aguilar, who after seeing him called him to one end of the tee and warned him of being late. The rest of the story has already been disclosed.
Moving forward, speculations are that if Peter Hanson wins the tournament on Sunday, he will push Paul Casey out of the top 9 spots of the Ryder Cup team. Not to forget Peter Hanson was in the lead on the first day after scoring a 7 under. The problem which can arise for Paul Casey is that he is not taking part in the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, which is going to start next week. If he loses this tournament, Paul will be left with no chances to make the automatic cut into the Ryder Cup team. As for Padraig Harrington and Luke Donald, who both could have made the cut in the Johnnie Walker Championship, they too are not making the appearance at the penultimate event of the season. Seems like the trio is not interested in Ryder Cup anymore!
Moreover, the worst scenario is yet to come and that is Colin Montgomerie’s headache, which is going to hit the course after the news gets delivered to the captain. Colin Montgomerie had Paul Casey on his list when he prepared a draft of it in Last August. Poor guy, now he has to revise everything again to gather a team that will give a good challenge to the US team headed by Corey Pavin. The European captain has three wild cards to pick from and that is going to happen on Sunday. These wild cards include the name of Padraig Harrington, Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Edoardo Molinari.
To wrap up the story, Bradley Dredge has lost the final chance of making the cut into the Ryder cup team after getting a penalty at the Prosper Resort in Celadna, which is holding the 6th Czech Open. The only message that one gets from Bradley’s mistake is that Time is money, and not being on time can surely make a careless person run for his money.
