Golf Update: Brittany Lincicome faces an early exit from the Hooters Tour
The three time LPGA winner, who played at the Bridgestone Winter Series of the Hooters Tour this spell, failed to make the cut after carding a 77 in her score card.
The 25-year-old golfer was the first LPGA female to have ever teed-off at the Hooters tours and shot a 77 after the second round of the tournament. The American however, failed to make the cut at the Deer Island Golf Club as she grabbed position number 81
on the leader-board.
According to the eligibility criteria, Lincicome had to step into the top 38 places and ties on the leader board in order to make it to the next round. The female golfer, conversely, carded a total score of 151 with a 7 over-par and faced a 7 shot deficit
from the cut.
Lincicome played a Deer Island layout that holds a yardage of 7,029, which is 500 yards longer than any LPGA track. The scorecard for the American was disappointing, to say the least, as Lincicome posted one birdie three bogeys and 14 pars.
Talking to the Tour liaison, Lincicome said that it had been difficult for her to make the putts. She also pointed out that with the LPGA season beginning from next month, she needs to make use of all the tournaments there are to keep her swings and putts
dust-free.
“I need to knock off the rust” she said.
Before finishing 7 strokes short of the cut, Lincicome followed Russell Knox as the main leader of the tournament. The golfer from Jacksonville Beach carded an impressive score of 66 with an 11-under which placed him above Brian Harman and Jason Parajeckas
by two shots.
Nonetheless, the 3-time winner of the LPGA focused on what had been positive.
After playing at a men’s event for the third time, Lincicome said that she had enjoyed two good days of ball hammering. The 25-year-old said that along with having a great play of ball striking, she also had an enjoyable time with her golf partners Zack
Sucher and Tim Whitby.
“We talked a lot about fishing and just kept on cracking jokes” said the Kraft Nabisco Champion.
Last week, Lincicome appeared at the Moonlight Golf Tour event and managed a tie of third place at Windermere Country Club.
