Golf Update: CIMB Asia Pacific Classic- Crane takes the second round lead
American Ben Crane claimed the lead after firing the lowest score of the day: 64.
The second round of the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic sidelined on Friday at Mines Resort and Golf Club, Malaysia with terrible scores. Out of 40 players, only five managed the break the par owing to the weather conditions, which were extremely hot and humid. Despite that, an American came at the top for the second time. Yesterday, it was Ricky Barnes who flew eight birdies in a bogey free round to take the lead.
Crane seemed to be on fire; he carded seven birdies and without dropping a single shot, he reached the other side of the leader board, where toppers were seated. Crane scored 11- under- par to seek the prize money of $1000, 000. He was followed by Thailand's Pariya Junhasavasdikul, who carded a 65 to take the second place.
Further behind was the first round leader Ricky Barnes. The American could not keep up with the momentum and hence dropped a shot at the eight -hole to card the first bogey of the tournament.
One stroke behind was Ryan Moore. The player started the round behind Barnes, but in the mid way, he surged into lead. He helped it with four successive birdies on 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. However, on the back nine, he dropped two shots and once again had to settle behind his compatriot Barnes.  On 69 was Carl Pettersson of Sweden and behind him was a trio; Adam Scott, Luke Donald and DJ Trahan. Out of this group, Scott shot the lowest score comprised of an eagle at the 17th.
Rickie Fowler, Brian Davis, Ernie Els, Tom Gillis, Martin Laird, Charlie Wi, Kevin Streelman and Thongchai Jaidee composed seven-under-par to take a share in the fifth spot.
The leader of the order of merit (Noh Seung-Yul) was seen struggling with the putter and hence settled at a 69.
Once again, an American is in the lead, which negates all the early predictions of the media that said a local will seize the victory. This is it for the breaking news regarding the results of the second round.
