Golf Update: Dyson all set to make appearance in the Ryder Cup following his performance at the Johnnie Walker championship
Simon Dyson scores a four under and refuses to let the two late bogeys takes a charge of him, not making a cut into the Ryder Cup team.
The conditions were already wet for the player who wanted to confirm his spot in the Ryder cup team headed by Colin Montgomerie. Simon’s spirit took a dip when he saw Ross McGowan's dream of playing in the Ryder cup vanishing away and Francesco Molinari getting a confirmed spot. However, Dyson did not give up and picked himself up, although he knew that his place in the team won’t get confirmed until Miguel Angel Jimenez does not get out of the top nine.
However, the second round started well as he scored a six under par before going onto the back nine, where he bogeyed his last two holes and gave two shots back settling for a four under par. Dyson finished only two shots behind the leader Richard Finch but way ahead of Miguel Angel Jimenez, who had a 70 and hence was out of the top 25s.
According to the media reports, Dyson is showing consistent improvement and that can be seen from him rising from the Twelfth place finish in the USPGA Championship to the top five place in the Czech Open that finished this week. The player has tremendous amount of energy and a good attitude to curb the amount of pressure he is facing now days. However, Simon Dyson should keep his wits open as this is the penultimate event of the season and there is no event after this so there is no second chance.
Coming to the captain of the team, Colin Montgomerie, he is positive about Simon Dyson and believes if Dyson pulls together during this crucial week, he can prove to be a great asset for the team. Coming back to the 32-year-old, he has made the cut in the Dunhill Links championship that is due after the Ryder cup in October in Scotland. Moreover, he has played in the Walker Cup with Luke Donald and Paul Casey in 1999, and in Royal Trophy that took place between Asia and Europe. These tournaments have one thing in common and that is the captain, which is none other than Colin Montgomerie, therefore one can be ascertained that both the guys are familiar with each other’s requirements and potential.
Moving forward to Peter Hanson, who began with a score of sixty-nine from the first round finished the second round with 3 under followed by Alvaro Quiros, with five birdies and five bogeys with a net total of 72. As for the player who is finally out of the race to get into the team, Ross Mc Gowan took a withdrawal after posting around of 77 because of severe pain that was persisting in his shoulder since the starting of the game. Ross required a top two finish but with the number 77, it became difficult for him to cope with the pressure. Coming to Lee Westwood who is on bed rest at the moment, after damaging his calf muscle is on the top of qualifying list but he won’t be seen in any of the competitive events until the first week of October. Moreover, if situation becomes worse and Westwood fails to make it to the Ryder cup, then Monty is thinking of getting a substitute. The name of the 13th player has not been finalized but Luke Donald’s name is coming up as the first option.

This performance predicts that by the end of the tournament, there are chances that Dyson will qualify the Ryder cup team but if he does not then Monty will surely run for a pain killer.
