Golf Update: FedEx standings say what?
A lot of assessment and reassessment is taking place this week as the final days of the Ryder cup team are coming near. The worst Deutsche Bank claims to be negotiating with the sponsors for an extension of its title sponsorship but right now, this does not matter. What matters is who will the cut in the next tournament of the Playoff series, as the FedEx standings will determine the matter. Few players are enjoying the highest points like Matt Kucher on the FedEx standings and others are standing in danger zone, like Matt Jones. Here is a quick summary of who is standing where.
Matt Jones
As mentioned before, Matt Jones is the player who is on the brink of danger as he is standing at the 60th spot in the FedEx points. The BMW Championship which is taking place in Chicago next week has a prerequisite of top 60. Matt Jones needs more than that is required to finish on par. In 2009, he was standing at the 126th place after he made the cut at the Greensboro and now after attending the Barclays he has jumped ten points from the 70th place. According to the player, he was not doing the math as he presumed that making the cut in the next event was just enough. Now that he has delivered, a terrible performance at the Barclays with two over, the player is in trouble but has managed to make the cut in the next event.
Spencer Levin
Before the Barclays, he was standing at the 71th spot of the FedEx points, and after it he is standing at the 75th which means he is out of the Deutsche Bank Championship but even then he might play if some player takes a withdrawal. Hence, there is a slight chance of moving further to the BMW Championship but that is solely luck. According to Levin, he has never played before on the course of TPC Boston, which signifies that bad news is already in the bag of this player.
Davis Love III
He was standing at the 72nd spot before the Barclays and now after posting a score of three under, he is still standing where he was before the event .Despite being uninspired, he is taking lessons from Brad Faxon. Rumours are that Corey Pavin will be having dinner with the player and his assistant on Wednesday. The purpose of the dinner is to ponder on the issue of wild card picks that will be announced shortly after the playoff series at the New York Stock Exchange.
Kris Blanks
Before the Barclays, he was standing at the 91st place and he has moved a point making it to the 90th.According to Blanks, he has recently shifted a new place in Florida, therefore he could not concentrate on the game but he will be ready for it next year.
Alex Prugh
The next player is Alex Prugh who was initially at the 95th spot but after the game, he has moved a point ahead but even then, he failed to make the cut in the next playoff series.
Charlie Hoffman
The player that deserves a description is Charlie Hoffman, who is standing at the 59th spot even after the Barclays. In fact, he will be the first player to tee off at the TPC Boston on Wednesday.
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods whole life has been shaken after getting divorced; even then, he managed to move to the 65th place from 112th.
This is it for now as the next tournament which is taking place at the TPC Boston will decide what happens next. Will Tiger make the cut in the BMW championship and will Jim Furyk remain on his spot are the questions that will be answered after this week so till then be patient.
