Golf Update: Haas ties tournament record at Boise, secures TOUR card
The round four of the PGA Nationwide Tour Albertsons Boise Open 2010 on Sunday ended with many golfers standing out. The championship itself was won by Hunter Haas after a tie with Daniel Summerhays but several other players such as Mark Anderson, Jamie
Lovemark and Patrick Sheehan played a game worth mentioning. Other than these players, Jhonattan Vegas and Bradely lles also played a first-rate game.
Hunter Haas on the 19th of September achieved the best finishing score in his career with a 64. Previously the thirty three year old carded a 65 five different times, which achieved the Price Cutter Charity Championship this year with a 6 shot
lead. The 64 by Haas is also the lowest score in his career till now, which has been posted 4 times, last appearing at the Chattanooga Classic in the year 2008.
Mark Anderson finished with a 68 at the end of the game. The golfer form South Carolina played a 3 under with a total of 13 under. Anderson moved from number 52 to the number 46 in the money list and earned the card for the Nationwide Tour Championship.
His finish at T15 enabled him to play at Daniel Island which is just a short drive away from his Beaufort home. On the 20th of September, Anderson has tournament’s Media Day to attend while on Tuesday, the WNB Golf Classic in Texas awaits the twenty
four year old.
Lovemark had a 7 under 64 at the end of the game. This is his top 10 finish at the end of the season and finished the round with a T7. Considering the money list, Lovemark is the eleventh in the history of this event to go above the $400,000 score. He has
a season total of $416,669 which is his 7th best in his single-season mark.
Along with Lovemark, Chris Kirk has also gone over $ 400,000 with 6 events of the Tour still to come. This is the Nationwide Tour Championship’s 4th year straight which contains 2 players above the mark but is the first time when it happened before
it finished.
The person to finish at T7 with a 66 was Patrick Sheehan. He played 3 birdies in his last 4 holes ending with a 5 under. The Mayan Classic moved Sheehan to number 87 from 121 in the money list and after the forty one year old played the Utah Championship,
he finished at T10 which moved him to number 73. His game at the Boise Open moved him to position number 62. This is Sheehan’s 3rd consecutive finish in the top 10 list.
Jhonattan Vegas achieved a birdie in his final hole and finished off his game with a total of 17 under. Vegas, who is the winner of the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open, carded a 66 in the end at the Boise Open. He played the Utah Championship previously
and was tied for the third place past the T2.
Bradley lles and Daniel Summerhays are two players that cannot be ignored either. Lles in R2 and R3 managed impressive eagles. He carded 3 eagles in round two on Par 5s and two more in the 3rd. His 5 eagles have tied him with Chris Smith from
Omhara Classic in 1997 for the most eagles in a tournament. Summerhays achieved second place and collected the dollar amount of 78,300. Due to the win, the twenty-six year old moved from the 17th spot to number 8 on the money list.
After a T7, John Mallinger was also tied for the third place at the Utah Championship. Mallinger position on the money list after this week’s event placed him on number 128 with pocketing $51, 942. He will be playing the Tour on the fall series which will
begin in a couple of weeks.
