Golf Update: Harrington claims his lost form in the third round of the Vivendi cup
Good news for the captain of the European Ryder Cup team that his wildcard holder has regained his form at the Vivendi Cup. He has stroke a score of 69 in the third round, at the venue of Marly and Retz course.
Padraig Harrington recovered from a poor opening of 70 in the first round and 72 in the second. Currently he is standing at the 41st
spot of the leader board with the help of five under after eighteen holes.
The 39-year-old is victory less since 2008 USPGA. He is playing in Paris to find his form before the 2010 Ryder Cup, which will take place at Celtic Manor, in the first week of October. Harrington was preferred to Paul Casey although he was higher in ranking
and in a better form. Due to his inconsistency, he was not given the wild card. However, after witnessing both the player’s performance at Vivendi (Padraig) and Tour championship (Paul), one can make a fair judgment of Monty’s decision.
As for Harrington, he has managed to make the cut in the third round by a margin of one shot. Yesterday he was standing at the last spot of the leader board because of two bogeys in his first five holes. However, today, he surged to the 41st
spot after carding seven birdies in 12 holes. Although, this is an improvement but it quite negligible in front of what is being expected from him.
Moving to the leader of the day, by far John Parry is in the lead with 14 under after seven holes. He is followed by Sandelin with 13 under after 7. These two players have eleven holes to go, however, other than Harrington, Chris Wood and Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano
have completed their session. Both have carded 4 under to take the lowest spot of the leader board.
The tournament began as a pro am event over the Marly and Retz courses; however, the final two rounds feature professionals only over the 6,729-yard course.
This is it for now, but the round is still in process, which means more golf news is yet to arriv .Therefore, just relax and keep watching golf.
