Golf Update: Harry Rudolph has gotten the golfing fever once again.
A talented player, Harry Rudolph will be seen in action on the golf course once again. Rudolph was the playing partner of a great golfing legend, Phil Mickelson. Both the players have been playing golf together since they were six. Harry is one of the few
fortunate people on this earth than can say they’ve beaten lefty. Leaving golf twelve years ago to take over the family business, Rudolph will appear as an amateur at the Australian Masters of the Amateurs.
Playing with Mickelson since a very young age, Harry even paired up with David Duval, Justin Leonard, and Mickelson as the 1992 All-American. This team compromise of amazing golfers led Arizona to its only NCAA golf title.
"Looking back on that, I didn't know I was going against potentially one of the greatest golfers of all time," said Rudolph.
“Had I known that, I might have cut myself some slack for losing to him every once in a while. As junior golfers, we got the best out of each other. We used to putt for tees back when you had to buy your tees. I remember we used to play for 10 tees. Our
competition was huge."
The reason Harry gave up golf was that he couldn’t really make it to the professional tour during his time. Choosing to be a businessman instead, the 40 year old is now a noble family man and owner of a successful business.
Rudolph will be competing with the American player Jordan Russell in the team event for the next four days. The individual title at the tournament is of course the primary priority with the team event being secondary. Taking place at Royal Melbourne, the
masters for amateurs is the 17th most important event in amateur golf.
The 2011 Masters of the Amateurs will feature 21 players from the host country, which is Australia. In the team event, however, the country will be represented by Ryan McCarthy and Tarquin MacManus. Along with the Australians, the Englishman Tom Lewis will
be there as well. With so many talented amateurs in the field, the Australian Masters for Amateurs will surely be interesting.
Rising from the ashes, Harry Rudolph is hoping to do well in the Masters. Ever since his resurgence, the player has surely made an impact in amateur golf. Known as one of the talented amateurs, Rudolph is hoping to boost his reputation to a whole new level.
