Golf Update: Irish open- McDowell ready to win
Graeme McDowell is catching up with his form that won him victory at the US open 2010 in hope of repeating history again at the Irish Open this week.
Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland is on cloud nine after winning the Wales open and US open both in consecutive week’s .If this was not enough, then the after parties on the victory at pebbles beach needs some time to wear off.
The World number 11  performance was satisfactory if not spectacular, when he finished 21st at the Scottish open and 23rd at the British open 2010.However,he is looking forward again to a spectacular performance  at Killarney. The US Open champion would love to claim his third victory of the season on home soil, although the chances to this statement are less.
When talking to our correspondents Graeme Mc Dowell said, “I had a nice chilled out week at home last week and I am feeling a lot fresher and really ready to go”
Looks like Graeme is all set but looking at the past record of the player, there is nothing spectacular about his game plan, this why the critics suggest that this U. S. open champion needs to put in more effort.
The best Graeme McDowell could do in the tournament history was finish at 11th position and missing only four cuts. If Graeme Dowell has won the Scottish Open and the Welsh open, how about playing half-decent in the Irish Open for a change!
The venue chosen for the event is the magnificent Killarney Golf & Fishing Club in County Kerry. After 18 years, the event has returned back to the venue on which it was played for the very first time in 1927.Killarney is divided into three championship standard layouts, each with different challenge and requirements.
The challenge includes a massive lake dominating the landscape at the Killarney club, with water hazards that come into play on most of the holes at Killeen. The course with its large, undulating greens and fairways lined with trees, and definitely give the contestants a really tough time. This goes for Graeme Mc Dowell as well.
The Killeen course has been upgraded to gear up with the expectations of the tournament since the time Nick Faldo won there in 1992.
So who else will be seen on the course and contending for the big title?
Darren Clarke the runners up at Lochmond Country Club will be seen putting around the Mahony’s Point.
Nick Dougherty, who was seen In the Scandinavian championship on Sunday, is also the part of the tournament but there are not much chances of his victory. The best performance he could deliver this season was the last week’s event at Stockholm, when the player got tied for the 19th.This is his second top 25 finish in the entire season.
Padraig Harrington another name who has 5 top -10 finishes in this season  will be seen golfing on the undulating greens but unfortunately this three time major winner has not been  finalized for the Ryder cup. If he makes it through the top 5 in this event, he night have chances for the next big thing.
Rory McIlroy the rising star from Ireland will be making his 4th appearance in this season and is expected to end up in the highest ranked professional for teeing up.
The last player Justin Rose, an American c*m Englishman, will be seen in his first European Tour title since the fall of 2007. This two time winner of the PGA tour in 2010 will be seen in hope of some good putting to score a place in the Ryder cup.
After Ireland, Graeme McDowell will be playing in the WGC - Bridgestone Invitational in Ohio, but will this super star make up to the expectations of the home soil or not, is a question that is yet to be answered.
