Golf Update: Ishikawa surges to the second spot with the help of hole-in-one
Japan’s poster boy, Ryo Ishikawa has hit a magnificent hole- in- one on the 15th of the Rokko Kokusai Golf Club's East course today.
He did that with the help of a 7-iron to move to a score of one-under-par 70. The 19-year-old is standing in the second place behind the leader, Ryuchi Oda. Oda is heading into the final round of the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open on Sunday,
with one stroke lead. As for the event, it has been co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour and Japan Golf Tour.
Oda shot a score of 70, with the help of tree birdies and two bogeys. Earlier, he had a lead with two strokes but after missing a shot at the final hole of the back nine, Odo fell to four-under-par 138.
Apart from, Ishikawa, another player is standing behind the leader of the day. That contender is Shintaro Kai, who carded a score of 72 to take the third place. The first three players are followed by a group of seven, that includes the Asian Tour Order
of Merit leader, Noh Seung-yul . He has taken the fourth spot by posting a 74.
According to Odo, he felt pleased with his game, as he delivered some good shots. He gave the credit of his success to his coach, who gave lessons to him on swings. He further added that he was trying not to exert extra pressure on his upper torso as it
would drain his energy out.
Owing to the bad weather conditions, the event has been slashed to 54 holes. This means, the previously mounted pressure on the players has been decreased by the reducing number of holes.
According to Ishikawa, it was a day similar to yesterday. The conditions are getting worse, by every passing moment. Despite, his hole-in one was a sigh of fresh air. As, the direction of the wind was from right to left, it became easier for the ball to
travel along and roll in one meter. This is the second time for the 19-year-old to post a magnificent shot like this, but it was his first one in the tournament.
