Golf Update: Jeev Milkha Singh is ready for another brawl!
The inaugural Volvo Golf Champions is ready to give Jeev Milkha Singh a chance to revive his faltering golf scores this Thursday.
The Championship will be bringing in a number of star-studded individuals on the 27th of January which includes the likes of Colin Montgomerie, Peter Hanson, Edoardo and Francesco Molinari along with Ian Poulter, Thomas Björn, Robert Karlsson,
Matteo Manassero and finally, Michael Campbell.
According to recent reports, after narrowly missing the Abu Dhabi cut last week, the 39 year-old golfer is now ready to charge the Royal Golf course with full force.
Jeev missed last week’s Abu Dhabi cut by a deficit of one stroke only and was playing with John Bickerton and Andrew Marshall of the tournament. Reports state that after the first two rounds, the golfer had carded a 75 and a 70 in the score card but unfortunately
missed the cut for the third round.
As for the current event, the golfer qualified for the event as a past winner of the same event and is presently, the only Indian golfer at the Montgomerie designed GC.
With a unique event, this Inaugural Championship will be handing out an amount of Euro 1.7 million to the one who tops the leader board. The field is in total welcoming golfers with a total of eight Major Championship titles, 329 European Tour wins and 27
US PGA Tour triumphs.
Apart from Jeeve charging the fields, the Volvo greens will also experience the presence of Paul Casey, Miguel Angel Jiménez and Padraig Harrington that reside from the top 30 places of the world golf rankings.
The fields will also welcome José Maria Olazábal, representing Spain who has been recently named as the European Ryder cup captain for the year 2012.
The 2011 inaugural Volvo Golf Champions is backed up by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) that is being run by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The dignitary is the Crown Prince and Chairman of the EDB.
The tournament is a part of the 4 week long Dubai extravaganza and has two more events following it from the 2011 European Tour international schedule.
As for the Indian Golfer, he has a chance to increase his number of European Tour victories that count to three.
