Golf Update: Korea leading the 2010 Women’s World Amateur Team Championship.
The Korean team shot a 16-under par at the Buenos Aires golf Course in Argentina and is currently leading the Women’s World Amateur Team Championship.  They are leading the second round by one stroke over USA, who was the first-round leader.
The Koreans established the record course of a single round 134 and broke the record set at Buenos Aires by Americans in 1998. Korean Lee-Hi Kim who’s only 16 years old, carded a 9-under 63 and matched the record set in 2004 by Julieta Granada of Paraguay
for the lowest individual score. Kim’s teammate Jung Eun-Han gave a 7-under 65. The team entered the second round with 1-over par and tied for 13th place, they set the championship mark for 36. The Korean team’s captain Hyung-Mo Kang said that they
are happy with the results and are relaxed by the way the players are playing. She complimented that the girls played the par 3’s fantastically and accomplished more birdies than she had expected.
Not only did their own captain acknowledge the performance of the Koreans, but also other team leaders saw how well they played.
"I was back and forth watching," said Canadian captain Doug Roxburgh, whose team played with the Koreans.
"They played the par 3s unbelievably. And, they made a bunch more birdies. It was perfect scoring conditions. You couldn't get a bad lie. They certainly took advantage of it. That is a record that will stand for a while."
Overall, the scoring was good in both the courses. Kim, who initiated the game with five birdies on the first six holes finished with 10 birdies and one bogey. The player was really happy by what was her career-best competitive round.  Overall, the team’s
performance was better than how she had expected they would play.
First round leader, United States is now on number two. A 6-under 66 and an even par was posted by Jessica Korda and Cydney Clanton respectively. Jessica is the low individual through 36 holes at 10-under 134. Cydney said that her contribution is very crucial
to the United States. Clanton and Korda, who were also teammates in the 2010 Curtis Cup, do have a nice partnership.
Clanton said that they will try to keep Korda happy. Coming back to her performance, she said that overall, their performance was good. Even though it wasn’t how they wanted to perform, but their overall game was brought down by the bogeys they made.  The
American team captain said she relies on the talents of her girls and is really proud that they are near the top of the leader board.
Germany moved into third place with an 11-under par 277 and was one place ahead of the Philippines who ended in fourth place after a total of 279. The host team was doing very well in the start of round two. At one point and time, they were leading the round
but finished tying for fifth position with the defending champion, Sweden. The Swedes really improved their performance yesterday, as they hoisted from the eleventh position to the fifth position and are also tied with Mexico and South Africa. After the second
round, France was in 10th position at 284 and Canada stood at the ninth position, the same place it came in yesterday.
The Australian team of Alison Whitaker, Stacey Keating, and Julia Boland are tied in for 21st place and are still struggling for the Espirito Santo Trophy in Argentina. They played at the Olivos Golf Club, the other venue of the Championship,
and posted a 5 over and are tied with England, Norway, Austria, Columbia, Czech Republic and Italy.
With only two days left and all countries trying their best, the championship is bound to get more competitive by every hit. US were leading the first round, Korea leading the second one, only time will tell which country will take the trophy home.
