Golf Update: McDowell and Kaymer share the European Golfer of the Year award
The veteran European golfers Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell are honoured by the European golf association with the prestigious award of European Tour Golfer for the year 2010.
The award is truly well deserved for Kaymer and McDowell as both have played brilliantly throughout the year. Kaymer not only won the United States (Professional Golfers Association) title this year but also snatched the top spot over the European money
list.
On the other hand, the year was not at all bad for the Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell as he has won four titles this year and has recently thrashed the former world number one American golfing ace Tiger Woods in the recently held Chevron World Challenge
golf event in California.
Moreover, the dynamic duo was a part of the Ryder Cup winning European squad at Celtic Manor. The award of the European Golfer of the Year has given them a new inspiration and motivation for the next season of golf. The twenty five years old German golfing
veteran Martin Kaymer has recently expressed his plans to usurp the world number one title from the British veteran Lee Westwood and now the award has made him more eager to give Westwood a powerful challenge in the next season.
After receiving the award the current world number seven, Graeme McDowell expressed his thoughts in a very happy mood and said that he is deeply honoured by the award as it has given him a new boost for the upcoming season. The Ryder Cup star added that
he is truly delighted with the matter and extremely thankful to all those who have supported him in his game.
The US Open winner Graeme McDowell told the media that he is quite cheerful with the fact that he is sharing the award with one of the best players of the world. Graeme praised and admired the game of Martin Kaymer and said that Kaymer is one of the best
player’s and it is a great honour for him to share the prestigious European Golfer of the Year award with him. Later he added and wished the German good luck for the future.
On the other hand, the twenty five years old German top golfer Martin Kaymer seemed pretty excited as well. Kaymer said that the year has been superb for him and he is blissful with the way everything has happened so far. Kaymer added that he is astonished
to be honoured by such an esteemed award and he will try his level best to keep the winning streak alive.
The German ace considers the award as an appreciation for his performance throughout the year. Martin said that the award has brought a perfect ending to the season. Kaymer thanked all the media and fans for their support throughout the year. The current
achievement has added some more pressure over his shoulders and he will try his luck hard to continue his better performance, he added.
No doubt, the year has been a great year for the European golfers as they have dominated the world of golf in a victorious way. The European golfers outclassed their American arch rivals in the prestigious Ryder Cup but on the other hand, the thirty seven
years old Briton Lee Westwood clinched the world number one golfing rank from the American legend Tiger Woods.
